If you are a resident of New York State or attending a school in New York and a first time entrant in the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) sponsored internship program, this may be the perfect program for you. This paid internship will involve all aspects of television broadcasting, including news, sales, promotion, commercial production, engineering, and operations. As an intern, you will get experience in all departments of the broadcast station.

Requirements:

• Must be attending an accredited college or university
• Each intern is required to work 10-15 hours a week, up to a 180 hour maximum
• Must have reliable transportation
• Internship time must be coordinated with the student's respective college or university for academic credit under the sponsorship of the educational faculty

Required Skills

The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our (morning, evening, or weekend) newscasts. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, and Assignment Desk on the newscast and its content. In this position you will determine the content and flow of newscasts, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories, and also develop content for our web site.

The ideal candidate will have solid news judgment, be a compelling and accurate writer, and be able to multitask and manage their time in order to put together an exciting and informative newscast. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
Required Skills

Previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station is required. The candidate must also have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts. Flexibility and on-the-spot problems solving abilities are a must. Journalism degree preferred. You should also be proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems such as iNews.
