**** is seeking an experienced newscast producer for one of our morning newscasts. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, a love of journalism and a passion for helping the community.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB:

Writes & produces news stories for daily newscasts - serves as a control room leader during severe weather and breaking news coverage. Produces opens and graphics elements for a highly produced newscast. Fills in on other newscasts as needed. Work aggressively to increase traffic on web and social platforms. Contributes recommendations on daily story coverage and special assignments. Must be available to work at station promotion events. Serves as a leader within the newsroom, offering ad *** & assistance to other employees. Copy edits news stories by reporters and writers. Produces special news events, shows and coverage outside the daily newscasts.

MINIMUM ****LEDGE, S****S AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Top notch showcasing skills, superb writing and communication skills. Must be extremely flexible to work different shifts throughout the year. Ability to work under extreme pressure and deadlines. Must keep up on local, state, national and international events. Informed regarding local, national and world news events. Must work well as part of a team.

This position requires someone who can exercise discretion, best judgment, and has solid journalistic/ethical skills. Degree in journalism or equivalent experience preferred. Job Description

The Producer will be responsible for the development and production of news packages needed for different newscasts.

Responsibilities:

• Research, write and produce strong editorial copy and packages with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Produce live segments, including writing sharp questions and identifying the strongest possible elements when booking guests.
• Pitch the most relevant, timely and compelling ideas for day-of and future segments.
• Quality checks all video content and keep Executive Producer and Line Producer up to date with daily news development of assigned stories.
• Secure elements such as sound bites and video to support segments and packages.
• Generate original guest ideas daily, tapping into a broad array of sources for ideas.
• Support correspondents with interviews, coordination, script revision as well as supervising the editing.
• Field producer on locations when needed.
• Work with the local *** Production Support team for when additional technical support is needed such as extra audio personnel and gear.
• Be responsible for finding locations for live shots, prepare permits, location releases, and needed Insurance paperwork for those locations.
