Job Description
Job Purpose:
As an *** 10 | *** 62 employee, you will have the opportunity to join a fast-paced production / operation team that delivers news programming across multiple platforms. You will be supporting our 24/7 broadcast news group and our Engineering and Operations department.
Job Duties:
- Operate camera, sound, lighting and editing equipment to cover live and taped events
- Respond quickly to breaking news while taking direction and interacting with the assignment desk, reporters/anchors, production, control room, and appropriate *** personnel
- Gather compelling video, natural sound, and work with others to make sure it meets deadlines
- At direction of the assignment desk, respond to breaking news obeying all traffic laws
- Be competitive and measured to make sure *** 10/T62 is accurate and first
- Interact with the assignment desk, reporters/anchors, production, control room and acquisition personnel
- Proficient in lighting, videography, non-linear editing with Adobe Suite, microwave truck operations, Live U and Dejero operation
- Maintain equipment and vehicles by doing preventive maintenance and inspections
- Attend editorial meetings to gain *** ter understanding of overall process and contribute ideas
- Operate with professionalism and respect and take extra caution when in the public's eye
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years as a video journalist / editor in a fast-paced news environment
- Must have a valid driver's license as well as a clean driving record
- Must adhere Environmental Health & Safety standards and regulations
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds of equipment at a given time
- Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours at a time (in breaking news situations, may need to stand for longer periods of time - up to 8 hours)
- Must be able to operate live transmission equipment including microwave trucks and bonded cellular devices like Live U / Dejero
- Must be able to maneuver small spaces (in/out of vehicles and to be able to take camera shots in tight spaces)
- Must be able to sit for up to 2 hours at a time (i.e. for editing purposes)
- Must be willing to work all days/shifts
Desired Qualifications:
- Compelling storyteller with a knowledge and command of various camera types
- Ability to work creatively both independently and as a member of a team
- Proficient video editing skills under tight deadlines
- Proficiency with multiple camera types including but not limited to: Shoulder mount ENG, Handheld C *** orders, DSLR/Mirrorless, Go Pro Style Action Cam, Drone
- Strong editorial, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools
- Knowledge and ability to operate communication tools and stay connected with the assignment constituencies (i.e. use of email software, cell phone, messaging tools, etc)
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
