Alex Kuykendall

I was responsible for filming principal photography for all introductions, segments, b-roll, inserts, and outros. I also oversaw the preparation of the camera department, monitored the audio feed, as well as helping with DIT duties. Additionally, I performed art director duties and helped dress each environment we filmed in.

I am responsible for leading the camera department at Culture Map. On set responsibilities include: overseeing and helping in the preparation lights, cameras, and audio equipment, setting up subjects for particular shots, filming intro/outro, filming segments, filming b-roll, and assuring that the media gets to DIT. I often also share assistant director, and art department roles because this is a very small team.

This was a video I co-produced, shot, and directed very enthusiastically. I worked closely with the artist on each stage of production for this video and together we wrote a concept that fit the original vision Stone had going into this one. Our goal was to create a piece that conveyed a message of social change and justice. Once we completed casting and I had scouted the locations, we filmed the live band portions in a rehearsal space on day one, and on day 2 we were filming in Downtown Dallas. I over saw post production and worked with a very close friend and talented editor to complete this video and it was nominated for and American Indie Music Award in 2019 for the category of Music Video - Social Change.

Myself and the director were responsible for capturing all video and audio for a short format branded web-series, "Cocktail Chronicles." I operated camera while monitoring audio, set up lights for a single subject behind a bar, assisted with script supervision. I also worked with the location to provide a vision for set decoration and presentation of each cocktail that was on brand with Old Forester. After every episode I also was responsible for capturing hero photographs of each unique cocktail preparation.

I was responsible for maintaining, transporting, setting up, breaking down, cleaning and occasionally operating all camera department equipment. From RED digital cinema cameras, to 35mm still cameras, PL mount lenses, to vintage Nikon primes, This was a very unique AC gig that continued over the course of 4 years.
