Brian Caruso

In my most recent role as Executive Producer at Verizon Media, I oversaw the production of the longform NFL pregame show called ‘Mostly Football’ hosted by Martellus Bennett, comedian James Davis and Ben Lyons. I was responsible for hiring talent and a full production team, giving the show its initial creative direction (from set design to segments) and approving budget items and content. It was the first show of its kind to give an unfiltered, uncensored look at the league while also integrating pop culture, music, gambling and comedy. It was nominated for a Hashtag Sports Award for 'Best Original Show.' My other duties at Verizon included developing sharable clips with top athletes from all sports. Interviewing and creating content with A-List athletes was a regular duty, whether it was covering the Super Bowl on location or writing buzzworthy skits with superstars like Usain Bolt or Von Miller.

While at the Network, I wrote, produced and directed a variety of shows. I was nominated for a sports Emmy for "Football Freakonomics," a show created with the author Stephen Dubner that looked at how sports and the real world connect. I also created and show with Brian Unger ("It's Always Sunny...") that took the tongue-in-cheek approach to football, examining the game through somewhat of a tilted lens. In addition, I wrote, produced and directed the documentary "NFL 2020" hosted by Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. The eight-part series included some of the most influential voices in the game like Peter King, Fred Gaudelli and a number of high-profile players.
