Nonfiction Production Finance and Accounting Executive

OVERVIEW:

Concordia Studio’s non-fiction division seeks an experienced executive with a strong background in both production accounting and production finance.

The ideal candidate will be versatile and lead production accounting for the nonfiction division as well as running financial work for the division including managing the preparation of financial statements, forecasts and projections. This includes overseeing day-to-day admin of production accounting and also implementation and management of financial controls, best practices, and cost reporting across a robust slate of unscripted series, documentary films and ‘hybrid’ (scripted+nonfiction) projects. The executive will work closely with Concordia’s COO, Co-Heads of Nonfiction and EIC Production while liaising with networks and production partners on reporting and finance-related communications.

Responsibilities include:
• Lead a team of nonfiction accountants and Payroll Admin
• Oversee day-to-day AP/AR/PC
• Contribute to projections, Forecasts, P&L (across nonfiction division slate, sales + distribution)
• Set up and implement Accounting & Payroll best practices
• Reporting and compliance
• Complete monthly banks recs, quarterly reports, GAAP audit of books on a yearly basis
• Hire and oversee production accounting teams on projects as necessary
• Lead cost reporting to networks
• Manage cashflow (inflow, outflow) for the nonfiction division
• Read and interpret contracts in financial terms
• Knowledge of production budgets and charge-backs across unscripted series and documentary
• Conversant with Union agreements and compliance
• Cost tracking across development and legal
• Contribute to cost/benefit analysis of in-house production and post vs outside partners/vendors

Previous titles include: 2021 Academy Award-nominated and Peabody Award-winning TIME (Garrett Bradley), which won the Sundance Directing Award for U.S. Documentary and is distributed by Amazon Studios; plus Emmy Award-winning and Sundance U.S. Grand Jury- winning BOYS STATE (Jesse Moss & Amanda McBaine) which is distributed by Apple TV+ and A24; A THOUSAND CUTS (Ramona S. Diaz) which is distributed by Frontline (PBS), and BLOODY NOSE, EMPTY POCKETS (Bill Ross & Turner Ross) which screened at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival and was released by Utopia. Other recent work includes INSIDE BILL’S BRAIN: DECODING BILL GATES (Davis Guggenheim) for Netflix, Sundance- premiered WHERE’S MY ROY COHN? (Matt Tyrnauer) for Sony Pictures Classics, Sundance-premiered BISBEE '17 (Robert Greene), Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning THE PRICE OF FREE (Derek Doneen) for YouTube Premium and FROM HERE TO HOME, a series of shorts with the New York Times Op-Docs including Laura Nix’s Oscar-nominated WALK RUN CHA-CHA.

In addition to Concordia’s active slate of feature documentary films in production, the studio is currently in developing and producing various limited series including: PHANTASTICA an epic three part hybrid show about the past, present and future of psychedelics; THE HAPPENINGS, a nonfiction genre horror series for Apple based on extraordinary archive from an infamous 1977 poltergeist haunting in England; THE BRAVE - a limited series for HBO with unique access to the Navajo Nation Police Training Academy, and an as-yet-to-be- announced show for Netflix helmed by Caroline Suh.
