  • Job Requirements: Must be local to location (or willing to work as a local).

I am budgeting for 2D animation sequences to be included in a documentary feature about the Chelsea Hotel. I am in need of animated original illustrations to create scenes that, based o a script, are able to visually tell and represent the following:

- concrete moments in the history of the Chelsea Hotel that haven’t been documented and therefore are impossible to cover with existing archival footage.
- particular passages of the life of the two protagonists.

I am looking to get quotes from someone (freelance or company), preferably based in New York, who can be responsible for the following essential duties:

- Create storyboards from a given script.
- Translate moments/stories into meaningful illustrations.
- Illustrate and animate standalone 2D motion pieces.
- Integrate the esthetic of animated sequences into the film general look and feel.
- Work closely and collaborate with the director and producer to provide appropriate material for the documentary film.
- Provide key creative input into the visualization of content assisting the director and producer in identifying cost-efficient coverage.

In order to be considered, please make sure to provide all of the following information:

- Resume
- Link to demo reel and/or portfolio.
- Links to 2 - 3 works that really represent your style.
- Rates.
- Explain your experience working for documentary films or other media projects.
- Send a quote for a total of 3 - 5 min of animation.

About the film:

Jim Georgiou, who lived at the Chelsea Hotel for almost 10 years, was evicted, like many other tenants, after the landmark building was sold in 2011. At the time the Chelsea Hotel was being renovated into a luxury hotel, destroying many of his best and oldest architectural elements in the process, Jim survived as a homeless man on the streets of NYC. He managed to rescue a set of fifty 130-year-old Chelsea Hotel doors from the garbage. These doors encapsulate in many ways the legacy of what was once "the last bastion of Bohemia". During the course of several years, Jim and his inseparable friend Cigdem Tankut, will carry the Chelsea doors against all odds, from place to place all over NYC, searching for a worthy destination for these iconic objects.
