Spotted Fawn Productions (SFP) is an independent and Indigenous-led stop motion animation studio in Vancouver, BC., seeking extremely innovative thinkers who have experience and skills related to the multifaceted medium of stop-motion animation. SFP is starting a new production co-produced with the National Film Board of Canada titled Wheetago War- a stop motion animated short film based on a short story from Richard Van Camp and directed by Amanda Strong.
Post-apocalyptic earth is ruled by the Wheetago, the dark spirit of greed which can turn humans and animals into horned merciless monsters, waging a war against the last remaining protectors of magic.
We are seeking an experienced Stop Motion Camera Assistant/ Data Management for a full-time, contract position beginning in between end of 2021/ beginning of 2022. To be discussed during an interview.
The ideal candidate must have:
-Experience in live action/stop motion film lighting/grip/camera departments, or similar experience with an emphasis on miniatures and/or scale models;
-Good knowledge of a wide variety of lighting/gripping techniques and gear (Kino-flos, Arri 1Ks/2Ks, wall-o-lights, Canon Cameras, DitoGear Moco etc);
-Understanding of work in a high-energy, fast-paced film environment.
As part of the Camera/ Animation team you will:
-Work with a Director of Photography, prep (lighting & gripping) sets with them and set up every new frame for the Stop Motion Animators;
-Work closely with the Director of Photography and Animators, Create animatics (if needed) before starting a new scene to determine shots;
-Offload and back up the footage.
