Looking for a highly organized assistant editor with meticulous attention to detail to assist on a project from ingest to final delivery.

This position is for 2-3 weeks, depending on the fit with the team.

Professional knowledge of Premiere Pro in an assistant editing capacity is a must.

***This is a remote position so an at-home setup is required. We will send a hard drive for our project's storage space.

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Line edit DC-based and politics stories in coordination with other Digital editors.
Write breaking lines on breaking news.
Work with Digital's senior editorial leaders, the DC editorial teams and Newsgathering to ensure robust and timely coverage of DC-based and politics stories.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5 years of news writing/editing experience, including breaking news
Proven ability to write clean copy and edit on a deadline
Track record of working on DC-based and politics stories for a major online news organization
Experience with web publishing and AP style
Track record of collaborating with reporters and editors of all experience levels in a fast-paced newsroom.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time freelance News Editor to join the *** Digital team.

The person in this role will be responsible for line editing text stories that are published on *** News.com, working with reporters, senior leaders and our legal and standards teams. This person will also write and report breaking news stories as needed.

Though a key part of the role is managing text stories, the person in this role is also responsible for coordinating other key editorial elements and liaising with the wider newsgathering operation as well as broadcast units, the Digital video team, and the audience development team, which oversees our platforms and social *** .
