The Beaumont Enterprise seeks an enthusiastic and versatile Assistant Editor to serve in the No. 2 leadership position in its newsroom. The right candidate will serve as the most senior reporter in the newsroom, while also participating in digital efforts and filling in for the editor when necessary.

The Assistant Editor's main duty will be to work with the editor to plan and execute in-depth coverage. But they also many edit stories, handle breaking news and help oversee a daily news operation that produces a daily paper, daily and weekly email newsletters, special sections and a website that sees hundreds of thousands of visits each month.

The ideal candidate will be a leader and a planner who knows how to strategize and execute a wide variety of content - from in-depth features to concise breaking news. In the digital-focused newsroom, hitting deadlines, writing SEO headlines, growing audience and driving social *** engagement are key metrics. We need a mature, ambitious staff member who knows how to stay organized and juggle a number of short- and long-term assignments at once.

The assistant editor also oversees the newsroom when the editor is away, including some weekend and evening editing duties.

Responsibilities can include (but are not limited to):

• Write in-depth news articles on a variety of topics that show an understanding of our community and resonate with our readers.
• Demonstrate sound editorial judgment, including an understanding of institutional guidelines on ethics, tone and subject matter.
• Edit stories for clarity, accuracy, readability, content, style and grammar for the daily newspaper, website and magazines. When necessary, provide feedback to reporters and make suggestions on sources or additional facts needed for stories.
• Aid in speaking to a targeted audience across newsletters, social *** and the website.
• Stay in tune with emerging digital trends and experiment rapidly in the digital space.
• Be flexible in a changing, fast-paced environment and fill in for reporting vacancies as needed.

Job Description

The Graphic Producer will be responsible for the creation of graphic elements which include written/visual content under tight deadlines in a live broadcast environment including but not limited to a control room.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the content producers to find innovative ways to enhance the on-air content with graphic elements.
• Responsible for the creation of the graphic elements in INews.
• Work hand in hand with the graphic department to get the latest graphic look for on-air and have knowledge of the latest graphic technologies.
• Check and review graphics for grammar, spelling, clarity, and impact under tight deadlines during live productions.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Works under the direct supervision of Executive Producer and is responsible for

completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in communication, graphic design, and/or production.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in television production or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
• General computer skills: Microsoft Office, iNews and Avid *** Central.
• Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).

Your New Role...

Your Role Responsibilities...

• Develops, edits, and manages a list of approximately 10-15 titles per year with minimal supervision from Sr. Editorial staff.This includes: providing line and overarching edits to authors; writing detailed plot and character outlines for ghostwritten and development projects; writing and editing cover and promotional copy; maintaining author and publisher schedules.

Work Experience

JOB DESCRIPTION
*** 13 and *** 13+ the *** O&O Duopoly in Seattle is seeking a dynamic video editor to join our news team. We are looking for someone who will do more than just lay shots onto a timeline. The successful candidate will be a collaborator who transcends all newsroom workgroups - to ensure our stories come to life with the best possible visuals. We are seeking an editor who is familiar with a diverse array of video editing techniques. For example - video used in a fast-paced nightly sportscast will be cut differently than a serious 3-camera anchor interview. What's more - your work will be showcased in a variety of *** : television newscasts, digital *** , specials & documentaries, and social *** posts.

Our editing team uses Edius to cut video, but experience on similar non-linear editing platforms like Avid or Final Cut is also acceptable. You should be familiar with basic journalistic editing functions, as well as advanced techniques and effects that can enhance traditional video. This would include products in the Adobe Suite. The successful candidate will possess superior editorial judgement, work well in a deadline-driven environment, and be capable of editing video quickly, accurately and creatively. Job Summary:

*** is seeking a full-time freelance News Editor for Washington and politics content for *** Digital.

This editor is responsible for working closely with the Washington Editor in the coordination and line editing of text stories related to DC and politics. This editor is also responsible for coordinating with Digital's senior editorial leaders, the various DC editorial teams, including the White House and Capitol Hill, and the Newsgathering division as a whole.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time freelance News Editor to join the *** Digital team.

The person in this role will be responsible for line editing text stories that are published on *** News.com, working with reporters, senior leaders and our legal and standards teams. This person will also write and report breaking news stories as needed.

Though a key part of the role is managing text stories, the person in this role is also responsible for coordinating other key editorial elements and liaising with the wider newsgathering operation as well as broadcast units, the Digital video team, and the audience development team, which oversees our platforms and social *** .

The ideal candidate is someone who is a thoughtful editor and writer, and has experience handling or leading breaking news coverage, is a self-starter and does well under pressure.

The hours are generally 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Tuesday through Saturday, though the hours may change on occasion due to coverage needs. This person can also opt to work in a hybrid model in our New York headquarters, Washington Bureau or Los Angeles Bureau.

Responsibilities:

• Edit multiple text articles per day
• Work with the newsgathering desk to determine what is reportable
• Collaborate with reporters, producers, editors, bookers and correspondents
• When necessary, file breaking news stories
• Coordinate news coverage across different teams
• Make editorial judgments on a minute-to-minute basis

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years' experience editing for a digital news outlet
• Ability to write on deadline with speed and accuracy
• Proven experience handling breaking news
• Willingness and desire to collaborate across different teams
• Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks
• Brings energy and positivity to the group dynamic

Preferred Qualifications:

• Has experience running point on major breaking news
• Experience collaborating with different teams
• Excellent communication skills

The pay rate for this role in Los Angeles, New York, and DC is $38.00 to $52.00 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
