Job Title: Assistant Editor
Start Date: Jan 17, 2021

Rate: $1500/week

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Field / Production
Works with the post manager / supervisor and project team to determine the best media workflow between the field team and the edit.
Ingests, syncs and groups all footage from the field.

Post-Production
Set up: Creates Avid projects for the project. Coordinates with post manager / supervisor and TDG on project organization.
Welcomes new editors on the first day of edit and instructs them on how their projects are set up and best practices for post.
Provides daily assistance to editors through editorial support, story preparation and sound design.
Monitors assigned edit suites and media storage to ensure that all editors are following proper editorial workflows.
Responsible for daily project back ups.
Responsible for the basic support and maintenance of the offline edit suites to assist with the timely and efficient delivery of programs.
Coordinates with post manager/supervisor on outputs of sequences for FTP delivery.
Keeps post tape logs and documents up to date.
Coordinates with editors, post producers and post manager/supervisor on the export of music reference sequence for composers.
Stays updated on changes in editorial and programming goals.
Imports composed music cues and graphics from third party vendors.
Maintains awareness of title safe delivery specifications.

Online
Loads final stock footage once received and cuts back into the final sequence.
Pulls and upreses all tape and file based HD media to conform final sequence for online and color correct
Provides the online editor / post house with video and audio references for the final sequence.
Coordinates with post manager / supervisor and graphics company on technical issues for graphic delivery.
Backs up and organizes graphics package and episodic graphic deliverables for master delivery.
Provides audio mixer with video reference of the picture locked cut and final audio files (AAF).
Marks every shot in sequence requiring a blur for the online editor after sitting with AP or producer to determine.
Attends online sessions if called upon to do so.
Cuts in final VO recordstakes according to the marked script from the AP or producer.
Provides EDL of music tracks in/out to AP to assist in creation of music cue sheets.

Position reports to: Producer and Post Production Supervisor


EXPERIENCE
Must Haves:
Minimum of 3 years working on Avid as a Assistant Editor
Minimum of 2 years working in Documentary
Strong technical skills and experience with Avid Media Composer
Strong communication skills
Proactive, organized, detail-oriented -- able to juggle multiple task simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, taking ownership when needed

Great-To-Haves:
Interest in the verite landscape
Familiarity with GroupItForMe or other automated synching systems
