Looking for an experienced assistant editor to join the team on an exciting culinary docuseries

Candidate must have experience setting up Avid Projects for TV or streaming, grouping/syncing, creating b-roll bins, ingesting/organizing assets, uprezing, etc. On the creative side, this position will also be assisting editor/story producers with pulls as well as occasionally editing social and 'best of' clips.

This position will work under the Post supervisor and be responsible for assisting two edits at a time. It can be performed remotely but the candidate must be local to LA in case there is a need to go into the bay. Remote workflow knowledge a plus.

This position of Assistant Editor would assist post production for a long-term documentary, on-site in our Van Nuys, CA production office, and provide front-line technical support for the projects editorial infrastructure.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Manage and maintain Adobe Premiere Pro Productions hardware/software pipeline and workflow
- Collaborate with the post-production team to create workflows, organize and future-proof projects, initiate best practices, and resolve software issues

Essential Functions:
- Sets up and organizes edit projects according to the specific needs of the production
- Responsible for leading other assistant editors and prioritizing tasks
- Accountable for all media including proper ingest, media location etc.
- Orchestrate proper labeling, syncing and grouping techniques required by each productions needs
- Prepare the show offline sequences for delivery to online/finishing facility
- Archive media and projects for future rebuilding and retrieval

In search of Assistant Editor for broadcast variety show with musical numbers. Strong previous experience with multi-camera television productions, professional level music video post productions, and offline/online workflows is a must.

Must be used to fast paced long-form fast turnarounds. Will need to coordinate with auxiliary editors and assistant editors working on for a multi-cam broadcast variety show with musical numbers. Project stakeholders and editor will be doing supervised sessions with clients, and AE will have to support in-person. Project is being edited in offline in AVID, and will be at post editorial facility, with possibility of remote work from home later into production.

Position is assistant editor on post team and will be working directly with primary and secondary editors who will be delivering specific episode segments. Assistant editor will work both independently coordinating with post producer, primary editor, secondary editors, and additional overflow assistant editors as needed.

Candidates must be able to support footage prep, multi-cam grouping, proper sync, and online conform prep to color and mix.

Project will be ToD timecode for majority of production, but certain segments of the production are music videos and will require sync/grouping according to set playback timecode, in music video post production fashion. Previous experience required in music video post production sync.

Must be comfortable with After Effects for GFX template exports/insertions. Must have ability to work with photoshop as well for superimposed text exports. Footage sources will be UHD, working in HD offline, and finishing in UHD.

Grouping / syncing experience should be a prerequisite to troubleshoot any potential sync issues in existing groups. Must have prior experience reading logs, searching for soundbites, organizing, stringouts, etc. etc. Experience with Adobe Media Encoder also required. Must be a good communicator regarding tasks and accurate at turnaround estimates.

Requirements
- Must have experience with Broadcast UHD TV shows with AVID MC & Offline/Online workflows with lead AE responsibilities
- Must be familiar with macOS Based AVID Media Composer.
- Must have experience with AVID Media Composer HD Offline to UHD Online workflow.
- Must have experience prepping for color correction from AVID.
- Must have experience prepping for mix from AVID.
- Must be familiar with JUMP Desktop.
- Must have previous experience with Same as Source AVID exports and Media Encoder Transcoding.
- Must have previous experience with offline proxy creation for AVID and online workflows.
- Must have previous experience with Adobe After Effects exports for GFX templates and management of GFX media & package relative to AVID Media Composer
- Must have basic Adobe Photoshop skills to manipulate templates or basic superimposed text layer in video edits, and slate creation.

- Must be able to work M-F with weekend availability as required. (Work from home a possibility, but not guaranteed later in production. | Assume all work will be in-person.)
- Must be able to work in person at facility located in Los Angeles, CA

- Must have reliable computer and broadband internet for connecting to LA Based hosted AVID machines via JUMP if remote work option is exercised.
- Must have minimum internet bandwidth requirements for any work from home consideration later in the production. ( 150Mbps download / 10Mbps upload. | Cable/Fiber Connection Preferred.)

Description of the job: Assisting lead editor in overcutting graphics/gameplay, mixes, finishing, versioning, localizing, exporting gameplay edits out of Premiere Pro.

Responsibilities of the Position: To independently ensure all quality standards are met and that localized edits are exported frame accurately and match the master cut.

Specific responsibilities:

Swap in updated and localized motion graphics while keeping frame-accuracy and intent of original edit.
Comfortable with keyframes and animation & copying-pasting attributes.
Thoroughly conform all edits, checking consistency in timecode/duration/cut points across all versions of the edit.
Organized files, following naming conventions, and clean project management is required.
Updating sound, exporting. OMFs, cutting in mixes.
Export final cuts for delivery to client.
Meeting and enforcing QC standards.
Consult with stakeholders from production to the post-production process.

Requirements needed for the job:

+3 years of professional work experience as an assistant or junior video editor.
+3 years experience with Premiere Pro & Media Encoder.
Demonstrable AE and/or video editing ability with a strong portfolio.
Thorough knowledge of timing, precision, and a detailed eye.
Familiarity with special effects (AE skills a bonus) and in-edit compositing.
Detail oriented.

Education: College education or trade school equivalent experience required.

You'll work with an experienced Film/TV writer/director and a top commercial editor to create a new promo package for Summer Stars, a 501c3 performing arts bootcamp for underserved kids. (this is a paid job-- just letting you know the content!)
