Your New Role... *** seeks a News Editor for the National Assignment Desk. *** News Editors pitch, research, and facilitate stories for all *** Platforms. As a news editor at *** , you are making the calls to report out stories and confirm details. You will work with a team of news editor along with bureau teams for television and digital platforms from our newsroom in Atlanta.
Your Role Accountabilities...- Generate news leads via traditional and new *** platforms, possessing good judgment to evaluate engaging stories including via social *** , along with strong writing skills and ability to report stories under deadline.
- This role will work overnights to support our 24/7 news operation.
- Foster relationships with newsgathering partners and work closely with field personnel and executive teams to develop and execute high-quality journalism.
- Strong understanding of social *** , vetting third party material and utilizing social and digital resources to confirm and deliver news to viewers/readers.
- Work collaboratively and report out stories during breaking news coverage.
Qualifications & Experience...- 4-6 years of Newsroom experience or related news *** field.
- Strong writing and research skills, proven editorial judgment.
- Able to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient use of social *** platforms for newsgathering skills.
- Newsgathering experience in traditional and digital/social mediums.
- Schedule flexibility to work overnights and weekends as the national assignment desk is staffed 24/7/365
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Undergraduate degree in journalism/related field or commensurate experience is required.

The Legal Bits...In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of *** Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $57,680.00 - $107,120.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, *** Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
