America Reports is looking for a talented, organized, and motivated Associate Producer/Writer who has a natural curiosity for news and politics. The Associate Producer/Writer will write anchor scripts, including readers, VOSOTs, as well as guest and reporter hit intros. Snappy lower thirds and teases are a must. The Associate Producer/Writer will be able to work well under deadline pressure, have stellar communication skills, and have the drive to win.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Write copy for anchors, including readers, teases, and intros
Pitch and develop unique and compelling stories that meet all required editorial standards
Watch events and log material to identify news highlights and flag news developments
Stay on top of the latest editorial information and communicate changes to anchors and managers in a fast-paced atmosphere
Perform research, find, cut, and produce elements, and write scripts as needed
Coordinate daily story development and report to the senior and executive producers in New York

**** YOU **** NEED

3+ years of experience in television production
Bachelor's Degree in journalism or related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
Strong logistical and editorial skills with knowledge of national and international politics
Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, multitask, and prioritize daily and especially in a breaking news environment
Familiarity with iNews, Dalet, and VIZ preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include writing stories and teases, editing video, and creating graphics and supers for newscasts, *** 4news.com, social channels and associated news partners. The position works closely with Producers to help develop and format newscasts and communicates continuously with Reporters, Photographers, the Assignment Desk, Managers and other applicable employees or outside sources regarding story developments and changes. Must possess the ability to write stories and post video for social *** platforms in coordination with Producers and Managers. Must facilitate communication during newscasts regarding live shots and story development. Associate Producers must have the ability to overcome anticipated and unexpected changes when putting together newscasts.

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field required. Two (2) to three (3) years' experience as a TV Newscast Associate Producer in a small to medium to major television market required. Ideal candidate must be able to work under tight deadlines and have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong writing skills required. Strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters for mass *** is essential. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Your Role Accountabilities...

The Associate Producer responsibilities include, but are not limited to: viewing and selecting the strongest and most accurate video elements (packages, sound-bites, B-roll, etc.) for a newscast. APs should be familiar with all important stories and the elements that go with them. They communicate show needs with writers, producers, and assignment desks. Other responsibilities include ordering and/or producing graphics, reporter packages, social *** segments as well as prepare editing requests and use technological tools to research and gather archive video. APs make sure all video elements are prepared properly for air and that *** source records include accurate details. They work in the front row of the control room to communicate the status of video elements and ensure best elements are available quickly.

Your Qualifications & Experience...

• Two years as an AP, writer/producer or producer in local news, cable or at the network level.
• Must have strong news awareness and production skills, the desire to work in a 24-hour newsroom environment and the ability to react quickly and calmly to breaking news situations.
• The candidate must be able to handle themselves professionally in changing and challenging situations and be able to react quickly under duress.
• Knowledge of iNews is extremely beneficial.
• Understanding of graphics, social *** and non-linear production is essential.
