Job Description:
As an Associate Producer for our Family Handyman show, you will be an essential part of the production team, responsible for supporting the producer in all aspects of the production process. You will work closely with the cast, crew, and post-production team to ensure that the show is produced to the highest possible standard.
Other duties and job responsibilities may include:
- Assisting the producer in developing and executing the creative vision for the show, including story arcs, character development, and visual style.
- Conducting research to identify potential cast members and locations for filming.
- Managing the logistics of filming, including scheduling, equipment rentals, and location permits.
- Working closely with the cast to ensure that they are comfortable and engaged during filming, and that they are following the production schedule.
- Collaborating with the camera and sound departments to ensure that all footage is of the highest possible quality.
- Assisting with the editing process, including reviewing rough cuts, providing feedback, and creating assembly edits.
- Communicating with the post-production team to ensure that the final product is delivered to the network on time and to the required specifications.
- Participating in creative meetings, and providing input on the direction of the show.
- Providing general administrative support to the producer, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
Day to Day Activities:
- Collaborating with the producer and the production team to plan and execute filming schedules.
- Conducting research to identify potential cast members and locations for filming.
- Communicating with the cast, crew, and post-production team to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that the production is running smoothly.
- Assisting with the editing process, including reviewing rough cuts and providing feedback.
- Managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring that the production stays within budget and on schedule.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Television, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in producing reality TV shows.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including cast, crew, and post-production teams.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to anticipate potential issues and find creative solutions.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software and hardware, including Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, and high-end cameras and sound equipment.
- Knowledge of legal and industry standards for reality TV production, including talent releases, location permits, and clearance issues.
- Passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to identify compelling characters and storylines.
