Seeking a sound boom operator with their own equipment for an episodic series shooting in Dallas, TX. It's a small production and a straight forward shoot, with needs to set up and operate a boom microphone to capture high-quality audio from actors and actresses on set. We need a quality sound mxer/boom operator for two weeks of shooting. Must have good attitude and a team player. A lot of the scenes are outside.

This is a low budget indie with limited budget

This is for a pilot season of a non-scripted show where 2 counterculture golfers road trip from San Diego to Los Angeles, and along the way play golf with celebrity guests.

Looking for an audio mixer who has experience in non-scripted/docu-style. The 2 hosts and one other guest will need to be mic'd.

This could work for either a LA or SD-based sound mixer. 10/23 will be in SD, 10/24 will be in OC, and 10/25-10/26 will be in LA. Travel costs covered.

While editing, we’ve used mostly vintage optical sound fx to retain the analog sound.

We have just completed an absolutely hilarious indie feature film. Everything from the script, to the actors, the cinematography, to the craftie was on point. When the comedy hits, it hits hard. But when the big heart moment at the end of the movie reveals itself, the audience will be left in tears. We know we have something great for upcoming festivals, but we need the sound design to reflect the awesomeness of the rest of the film. That's where you come in!

We're looking for someone who can bring some real artistry to the table. This will not be a simple job of balancing levels and outputting a great sound. We want someone who can collaborate with the director and bring some cool ideas to really heighten the sound design.

Our main character suffers from anxiety. How would you differentiate the sound when he's having an attack? We jump into a lot of fast-paced chaotic movements. How would you attack the audience's auditory senses???? MAKE THIS YOUR BABY!!!

Obviously, we're an indie feature and can't afford to pay you a quadrillion dollars. But we can pay you a minimum of $4k plus deferments. So if you're looking to sink your teeth into something you can really put your stamp on, this is the project for you! Audiences should walk out of the theater commenting on how amazing your sound design was. If you think for a second you can't bring that level of artistry, keep scrolling!

Equipment Preparation and Maintenance:

Ensure all recording equipment is in working order.
Setup microphones, boom poles, cables, mixers, and headphones.
Check batteries, memory storage, and backup equipment.
Location Scouting:

Join the director and/or other crew members to evaluate shooting locations for potential sound issues.
Identify any ambient noises or challenges that could interfere with recording, such as traffic, air conditioning units, or other machinery sounds.
Mic Placement:

Decide on the best microphone types and positioning, including lavalier mics on actors or boom mics overhead.
Continually adjust and reposition mics as scenes evolve.
Levels Monitoring:

Monitor audio levels during filming to ensure they're neither too high (causing clipping) nor too low (which might capture unwanted noise).
Adjust settings on the fly to adapt to changes in the environment or scene.
Real-time Sound Quality Control:

Monitor the audio quality through headphones to detect any issues (e.g., interference, rustling clothing, or wind noise).
Communicate and coordinate with the boom operator to achieve the best sound capture.
Communication with Director and Crew:

Discuss the sound requirements of each scene with the director.
Work with the assistant director (AD) to request quiet on set or to hold off on certain activities that might interfere with sound capture.
Collaborate with the wardrobe department if lavalier mics are being used to ensure they're hidden and not rubbing against clothing.
Record Ambient Sounds:

Capture "wild tracks" or ambient sounds from the location, which can be used during post-production to help create a more immersive environment or to smooth out audio edits.
Log and Label Tracks:

Ensure all audio files are correctly labeled and logged so that they correspond with the shot list and scene numbers. This is crucial for post-production.
Make notes of any potential issues or concerns with specific takes.
Collaborate with Post-production:

After the shoot, the sound mixer often works closely with post-production teams, especially if there were known issues on set that need addressing.
Provide insights or recommendations for the sound editing process.
Backup and Data Management:

Regularly back up recorded audio to ensure data safety.
Organize files in a manner that makes them easily accessible for post-production.

We are crewing up for an independent feature film that will take place over 19 days (5 days/week) in the Los Angeles area, focusing on the east side (NELA, Pasadena, East Hollywood, etc.).

Oversee all aspects of post production sound, including dialogue editing, sound effects, ADR, and foley.
Collaborate with directors, producers, and other post-production team members to ensure the sonic vision aligns with the overall project goals.

Utilize industry-standard software and tools to mix and master audio to the highest quality.

Address and implement feedback in a timely and efficient manner.

Ensure final audio deliverables are in the correct format and meet all technical specifications.
