Job Summary/Description:

The Technical Director will function as one of the technical leads for production during live or taped studio broadcast productions. The Technical Director is responsible for set up and operation of the production switcher and associated technical equipment in the Production Control Room and/or live location environment. They are also responsible for evaluating and then assigning all video inputs, taking into consideration timing and video levels all while orchestrating the control room setup. Finally, the Technical Director will operate as the “right hand” of the Line Producer to develop and execute the creative and technical “look” of the production by creating special effects via the production switcher and various external effects equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Live/Taped Productions -

• Set up and operate production switchers and all associated technical equipment in a Production Control Room and/or Live Location environment during live game and/or studio broadcast productions. Orchestrate control room set up while simultaneously evaluating and assigning all video inputs taking into consideration timing and video levels.
• Collaborates with the Producer to execute the technical and artistic vision for each live newscast and/or studio production.
• Lead the technical portion of the production team during the production setup and coordinate the faxing of their equipment and show elements since their equipment and work passes through the production switcher.
• Collaborate with traffic and HUB entities needed to verify all video and audio signals are routed correctly and making it to their final destinations.
• During a live and/or studio broadcast production recall video sources, transitions, and effects and route studio monitors as instructed by Producers. Continuously monitoring all sources used during production to ensure all video levels look correct and stay in timing which includes external feeds.
• Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints

Collaboration & Communication -

• Work closely with the Technical Operations and Production Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems for Live Locations, PCRs, and Studio productions. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion
• Collaborates with Production Engineering, Technical Operations, and Production Management to identify and special order any equipment needed for live or taped studio broadcast productions

• Creates documentation on switcher builds, effects build, and set up of the switcher for each broadcast production

Perform quality control checks for all ingested feeds

Utilizing a *** asset management (MAM) system to manage all *** across the WBD production systems
Utilizing content distribution platforms (Frame.io, Aspera, Signiant, *** Hub) to send *** to outside clients
Execute daily *** movement *** ween *** Brothers Discovery (WBD) and NBA headquarters in Secaucus, NJ
Follow strict Standard Operating Procedures to manage *** for our WBD sports properties
Ingest, edit, and manage all ingested *** for US Soccer, NBA, NBATV, NHL, NCAA, MLB and other properties
Manage all melt footage (best video from live sport events) US Soccer, NBA, NBATV, NHL, NCAA, MLB and other properties
Transcode and deliver WBD sports properties assets for outside clients (client examples have included *** , Apple, IMG, Yahoo, Verizon)
Serves as the point person for information for all live ingested *** under the WBD sports properties umbrella
Provide additional training and support to our partners as it relates to general operations and MAM workflows
Always defer to Digital Asset Managers, Senior Asset Managers or Team Manager for applying retention and deletion policies as required.

Liaison *** ween parties: (10%)

Work with several parties to troubleshoot inbound source issues
Serve as a liaison *** ween programming and master control to deliver content for broadcast air
Handle video routing when late or last-minute requests happen

Your Qualifications & Experience...

HD Video production and post production skills
Operational knowledge of Non Linear Editing systems
*** file re-wrap and transcoding familiarity
Prior non-linear edit experience (sports preferred)
College degree in Computer Science, Video Production, or similar

Ideal candidates will have:

Digital *** and encoding format familiarity.
Team and player knowledge of NBA, NHL, MLB and NCAA
EVS asset management system knowledge

Your New Role...

The NCAA Digital Marketing and Public Relations departments manage getting the message and accomplishments of NCAA Digital out to the public in various ways, utilizing both traditional and social *** . The NCAA Digital Marketing/Public Relations hire will provide support to the marketing, strategic insights and public relations teams. Marketing duties include helping create and execute marketing and advertising campaigns; research as needed; helping develop schedules, deliverables, creative executions and requests.PR duties includepreparing the company's daily *** highlights report (press clips), creating visually engaging graphics to be integrated with broader publicity campaigns, managing databases, compiling game notes, developing newsletters, as well as draftingnews releases, talent biographies, *** lists and other strategic PR documents.Other PR responsibilities will include special projects as laid out by the PR team, along with being an active participant in weekly PR team meetings and serving as a liaison on various projects *** ween the NCAA Digital and the *** Sports PR team.

Role Accountabilities...

NCAA Digital oversees the operations, day-to-day production, marketing and sales ofNCAA.com, the official website of the NCAA. In addition toNCAA.com, the NCAA Digital team oversees products for the Division I Men's Basketball Championship, including NCAA March Madness Live. NCAA Digital is part of *** Sports, a division of *** Discovery. This program is designed to provide real-work experience.

Qualifications & Experiences...

- Four-year college degree from NCAA member institution
- Strong knowledge of college athletics
- Social *** experience

- Passion for ***
- Ability to work in a team environment with flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends

- Excellent communication and organizational skills

Able to handle last-minute or quick-turnaround deadlines; Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Energetic and enthusiastic self-starter who is able to perform nimbly and calmly under pressure.

NCAA Digital Post-Grad Program
• This is an eleven-month, benefits-eligible paid program: August 5, 2024 to June 28, 2025
• Full-time schedule (40 hours/week) plus overtime eligibility
• This job will require regular weekend work and nights.
• All candidates must be recent graduates (within 2 years post-graduation) of a four-year NCAA member institution.
• Company-owned laptop provided for the duration of the program
• Former NCAA student-athletes are also strongly encouraged to apply.
