We’ll be capturing marketing and testimonial videos for a dental practice, both inside the office and with some exterior shots.
Assistant Camera Responsibilities:
Operate the camera with a strong understanding of the Sony A7s III.
Handle 8-10 hours of video production each film day.
Follow the provided photography shot list.
Use provided camera settings and adhere to photo guidelines.
Monitor the camera during filming for audio and focus.
Assist with production wrap-up tasks.
You’ll ensure proper composition, audio quality, and color balance for interview cameras, maintaining sharp focus throughout each interview. You’ll also help move lights and cameras based on set changes and lighting preferences.
Requirements:

We will be filming a feature-length documentary about a group who reclaim and train wild ponies in Nevada, Utah and Southern California. The doc will end following a long ride of several hundred miles. Will involve travel, some rough living and a lot of shooting on the go.
The ideal DP should be comfortable working in a wide variety environments, situations and lighting conditions, all on the go, often with minimal power or grip. We'll also expect you to shoot beautifully-lit studio sit-down interviews, gorgeous panoramas and interesting verite. You will also be in charge of a B and C cam, so the ability to direct coverage of B-roll is a must. We're hoping for a final product that combines the look of Haskell Wexler with a touch of Errol Morris.
Project shoots for three weeks at the end of September, with a week of prep in late August. Based out of L.A. All travel and lodging is paid. Camera package is still TBD, but likely Alexa mini or C300 mkIII. Open to considering a package from you for an additional rental if you have one.
Ability to ride a horse is a strong plus.
