Job Description:
As a Data Manager or Digital Imaging Technician (DIT), you will be responsible for managing the digital media on set, ensuring that all footage is backed up, organized, and prepared for post-production. You will work closely with the camera department and the post-production team, and will be an essential part of the production process.
Other duties and job responsibilities include:
- Setting up and managing the digital workflow on set, ensuring that all footage is recorded in the correct format and at the appropriate resolution.
- Backing up all digital media to multiple locations, including hard drives and cloud storage.
- Creating and managing the digital dailies, ensuring that they are synced, organized, and ready for review by the director and producers.
- Working closely with the camera department to ensure that all cameras are properly calibrated and that the footage is of the highest possible quality.
- Troubleshooting any technical issues that arise on set, and finding solutions to ensure that filming can continue without interruption.
- Communicating with the post-production team to understand their technical requirements and ensure that the digital media is prepared to their specifications.
- Managing the metadata associated with the digital media, including camera settings, timecode, and file naming conventions.
- Ensuring that all digital media is properly archived and backed up after the production has wrapped.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest digital imaging technologies and techniques, and implementing them where appropriate.
- Ensuring that all digital media management is completed in accordance with the production company's and industry standards.
About you:
You are a highly experienced Data Manager or Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) with a proven track record of managing digital media on set for TV and film productions. You have xtensive knowledge of digital workflows, camera technologies, and post-production processes, and are committed to ensuring that every production you work on is set up for success.
Skills and Qualities you may possess:
- Deep knowledge of digital media management, including file formats, compression, and data transfer protocols.
- Expertise in camera technologies, including sensor types, color science, and lens characteristics.
- Proficient in industry-standard software and hardware, including Adobe Creative Suite, Davinci Resolve, and high-end workstations and storage solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including camera departments, post-production teams, and producers.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage large amounts of data and ensure that all media is properly backed up and archived.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and find innovative solutions to ensure that filming can continue without interruption.
- A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of aesthetics, with the ability to ensure that the footage is of the highest possible quality and is consistent with the creative vision of the production.
