We are looking for a DIT/Data Wrangler for an upcoming non-union shoot on June 20th in Shelter Island, NY. You must be able to work as a local and provide your own transportation. See below for job details and responsibility. Please include day rate and gear list.
The Data Wrangler’s primary responsibility is to offload camera cards safely for Post Production. The Data Wrangler reports to the Director of Photography (DP) and is well-organized, precise, and punctual. They should have extensive knowledge in digital files, formats, proxies, frame rate conversion, and portable media. They should be adaptable, resourceful, and must work well with others in a deadline-driven environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review test shots with Director/DP
Ensure no files are lost/misplaced
Work with DP to set up and monitor Camera 2 Cloud on Frame.io
Secure and distribute raw media + dailies
Organize footage via metadata/camera reports
Transcode footage for editing
Build project files
Cut assembly edits
Eliminate guesswork when handing off projects
Ensure Camera 2 Cloud is operating without issues.
Communicate with the editor to ensure they have everything that was shot.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience on a video production set, specifically in the camera department (3 years)
Extensive knowledge of media and proper offloading
A full understanding of file conversion and proxy workflows
Excellent verbal communication
Personable and professional towards clients, vendors, and crew members
Knowledge of video production gear and terminology
Flexible schedule and the ability to work long and/or irregular hours in various conditions
A valid drivers license and reliable form of transportation
PREFERRED SKILLS:
High attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions.
Excellent organizational skills.
The ability to exercise proper judgment.
