THE UNITED STATES ARMY FIELD BAND
is the Department of the Army’s premier touring musical representative. Its mission is to develop positive connections on behalf of the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, and the United States through live music and multimedia performances, media, television productions, and emergent technologies. The Field Band has appeared in all fifty states and in more than thirty countries on four continents. The organization’s five performing components, the Concert Band, Soldiers’ Chorus, Jazz Ambassadors, Commercial Music Group, and Six String Soldiers, each travel more than 100 days annually. Tours include formal public concerts, school assemblies, educational outreach programs, festivals, and radio and television appearances.

ELIGIBILITY
4 year enlistment in the U.S. Army required to accept position, not a requirement to apply
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder)
Civilian applicants must be 17-34 years of age or up to 42 with a waiver
Military applicants must be eligible for PCS

SALARY & BENEFITS
$72,000-80,000 starting salary
30 days paid vacation annually

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Experienced and imaginative video editor, shooter, and storyteller with a strong foundation in visual design that develops content for playback during live-concert events and social media.

EDITING (50%)
Create and implement video content for display on IMAG screens during live performances
Work with producers to managing multiple shows and projects
Multicam editing for various aspect ratios
Update and enhance existing deliverables with established templates and documents

DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER AND STORYTELLER (40%)
Pitch creative video ideas and scripts
Produce cinematic video products for IMAG
Work with small crews with limited resources
Manage large multiday/multilocation productions
Post-produce, audio mix, and color correct
Rework products for social media
Lighting for Interviews

VIDEO E​N​G​I​N​E​E​R (10%)
Manage and maintain video displays
Setup, teardown, and troubleshoot equipment on location
Trigger content live using Resolume Arena
Interface with Technical Directors at host sites to link up video to existing infrastructure
Oversee crews
Adapt content for live broadcasts
Ability to fill in on various positions of live multicam broadcast

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication, Broadcasting, Film, or a related field or relevant experience related to broadcast, advertising, or social media
Ability to create original standout video packages beyond regular news graphics and templates
Advocate for design through constructive critiques
Detail oriented with high quality/accuracy and proofreading skills
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere/Creative Cloud Suite
Basic interview lighting techniques
Ability to produce, shoot, direct and edit cinematic mini-documentaries and vignettes
Photojournalism, concert, and event photography
Sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work without supervision
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong media management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency with Resolume Arena
Familiarity with print, graphics, and publishing a plus
Understanding of design principles including composition, visual hierarchy, color, and typography
Ability to read music
Experience with VR/360 Cameras

Following evaluation of submitted materials, select applicants will be invited to Fort Meade, MD, for an in-person evaluation and interview. Travel expenses will be paid by the U.S. Army upon meeting aptitude, physical, and behavioral standards. Military personnel must be eligible for permanent change of station, submit an Intent to Release memorandum from their unit Commander, and submit and a Soldier Talent Profile or equivalent.
