Weigel Productions is looking for a Director of Photography to film the variety of television series, documentary specials and short and long-form content we produce for Weigel Broadcastings national television networks such as MeTV, Decades and Start TV.
Some of these include:
-Collectors Call, a half-hour format series about memorabilia collectors for MeTV
-My Start Story, :30 and :60 pieces about how women from all walks of life got their start in their profession for Start TV.
-Through the Decades, a daily, original, one-hour time capsule for Decades.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a skillset for creating compelling visual storytelling. They will be based in Chicago and will work with a creative team of writers, directors, producers, graphic artists and photographers/editors who produce collaborative content for broadcast. They will oversee all gear and be responsible for look, consistency, and ability to work on all parts of the creative process with the larger production team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Create compelling visual and audio stories.
Bring a story to life with your lighting, framing, and connection to the subject.
Trust your gut to follow a story in the field and edit quickly to bring evocative scripts to life.
Passion for gear, love new toys and have an opinion about color profiles, codecs, and formats.
You are a natural leader, work well with others and love to tell stories.
Experience creating original content that is complimentary to archival material.
You are flexible, you can move from project to project on a daily basis.
Not just detail-oriented but obsessed with details from the type of light bulb, specific LD filter or best way to shoot a scene, you can get down in the gritty details to execute with excellence
Advocate for yourself but work within parameters of the team and the reality of the field.
You love learning the newest tricks of the trade, new gear and ways to film, keep pushing boundaries to help elevate our content
Comfort and ability to work on the fly, work creatively and seamlessly with a team of producers and editors to create a unique television experience.

Requirements:
Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
Experience shooting with the Canon C300 cameras and its prime lenses preferred.
Ability to record audio. Lighting experience required. Must be able to do full-set up, shoot and break down alone.
Adobe Premiere editing software experience strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will be able to function as a director of photography, cinematographer and strong editor.
Working knowledge and artistic abilities utilizing Adobe Photoshop and After Effects a major plus.
Must have at least 5-years of shooting, nonlinear editing long-form or documentary production experience in a professional environment.
Must be able to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced creative environment.
Must be open to the flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
