The 2nd Assistant Editor will support Kin’s Post Production department in all aspects media management, including preparing media after production for our editors, sourcing media for projects as needed from our library of hard drives, and QCing masters before archiving them to our new asset library management system. The 2nd AE will play a critical role in supporting the 1st (Lead) Assistant Editor and our stable of freelance editors as we move through a robust production slate for 2023. We have recently transitioned from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere, so knowledge of both platforms is required. This role requires extreme attention to detail, proficiency in organization, adherence to deadlines and a great level of proactivity. This is a freelance full-time position.
This is a remote position, but it will be required to go into our LA-based office for training and potentially one day a week.
What You’ll Do:
- Collect drives from production teams, offload/upload media and assets and ensuring all footage is accounted for, verify data backups, and stored in the proper locations in a timely manner
- Review media, catch and flag any production errors, issues, or inconsistencies to all stakeholders
- Import and prepare all project assets into Adobe Premiere working with the Lead Assistant Editor to maintain Kin’s workflow standards
- Build multicam clips from source material according to project specs
- Diligently organize, connect, and synchronize media in sequences for external editorial teams
- Annotate and label all media based on project notes, as well as using your own intuition and understanding of the shoot to organize media in the project in a concise manner to set up the editorial team for success
- Maintain logs and enter project metadata as needed
- Ensure correct project templates are being utilized and distributed to creative teams
- Recall old projects and media from archives when required
- QC episode masters to ready for distribution
What You Have:
- 1-2 years of post-production experience, including work as an AE, preferably with digital content
- Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite / Final Cut Pro and other post-production software
- Advanced knowledge of video and audio codecs for digital media and broadcast distribution
- Working knowledge on how to navigate networks, servers and remote software such as Jump Desktop
- Strong commitment to detail and an aptitude for organizing and labeling media content
- Proficiency with Google Suite
- Ability to work independently and with teams, able to decipher problems and create solutions; able to complete tasks with minimal guidance if necessary
- Adept at determining priorities and able to hit deadlines under pressure; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Communicate well and be flexible with other departments
