TMZ is looking for a Editor to work in our fast-paced, TV news production environment. This role is responsible for editing content for multiple television shows as well as other creative projects. The Editor prepares and edits video procured from multiple sources for broadcast and website publication. It is vital for this person to be an engaging storyteller, who can produce (preditor) and piece together interesting stories within extremely tight daily deadlines. Must be highly proficient with Adobe Premiere, a Mac and PC user, and should be comfortable with basic aspects of computing, including Slack, MS Office Suite and navigating the internet. This position reports into the Supervising Producer and is located in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities:
• Produce and edit video content daily with Adobe Premiere (with editorial sense/judgment/direction)
• Cut and export video images in Photoshop
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Experience working on a television show (news, broadcast, cable, daytime talk, reality, etc.) is preferred
• A strong interest in entertainment celebrity news, preferred
• 3-5 years of video editing experience required
• Adobe Premiere and Photoshop – advanced skill-level required
• Must be a team player who can work simultaneously with different departments on multiple projects

Job Responsibilities:

Use Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and other video editing software to create high-quality video content.
Collaborate with other video editors to enhance and develop your editing skills, as well as share ideas and insights.
Work with retention specialists, directors and creative directors to meet retention standards and ensure audience engagement.
Make creative choices during editing, such as developing scenario structures for animations, selecting music for certain clips and reactions, and determining what should be supported visually/audibly in the editing process.

In this role as a Video Editor /Asset Manager you'll be responsible for ensuring all asset files the organization’s editors require are prepared and ready for editing. The position requires managing files from ingesting, metadata application, archiving and delivery to editors as well as editing short form content for social media.

Create Adobe Premiere project import files, organize bins, and sync audio and video footage for editors
Export audio and video for transcription of content by timecode using Trint, REV application or IPV Curator.

Export final cuts and associated assets for sound mixes and color correction with external vendors
Process footage for legal review with a complete stock log and release form audit
Receive and deliver files and hard drives internally and externally with producers, editors, and vendors

Edit and export quick-turn video projects
Research B-roll from stock sites for editors
Inventory, track and manage all video hard drives

We need an editor to cut a true-crime sizzle for a Brazilian audience. Experience in crime and editing sizzle reels a plus. Must speak Portuguese and English.

The 2nd Assistant Editor will support Kin’s Post Production department in all aspects media management, including preparing media after production for our editors, sourcing media for projects as needed from our library of hard drives, and QCing masters before archiving them to our new asset library management system. The 2nd AE will play a critical role in supporting the 1st (Lead) Assistant Editor and our stable of freelance editors as we move through a robust production slate for 2023. We have recently transitioned from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere, so knowledge of both platforms is required. This role requires extreme attention to detail, proficiency in organization, adherence to deadlines and a great level of proactivity. This is a freelance full-time position.

This is a remote position, but it will be required to go into our LA-based office for training and potentially one day a week.

What You’ll Do:
- Collect drives from production teams, offload/upload media and assets and ensuring all footage is accounted for, verify data backups, and stored in the proper locations in a timely manner
- Review media, catch and flag any production errors, issues, or inconsistencies to all stakeholders
- Import and prepare all project assets into Adobe Premiere working with the Lead Assistant Editor to maintain Kin’s workflow standards
- Build multicam clips from source material according to project specs
- Diligently organize, connect, and synchronize media in sequences for external editorial teams
- Annotate and label all media based on project notes, as well as using your own intuition and understanding of the shoot to organize media in the project in a concise manner to set up the editorial team for success
- Maintain logs and enter project metadata as needed
- Ensure correct project templates are being utilized and distributed to creative teams
- Recall old projects and media from archives when required
- QC episode masters to ready for distribution

What You Have:
- 1-2 years of post-production experience, including work as an AE, preferably with digital content
- Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite / Final Cut Pro and other post-production software
- Advanced knowledge of video and audio codecs for digital media and broadcast distribution
- Working knowledge on how to navigate networks, servers and remote software such as Jump Desktop
- Strong commitment to detail and an aptitude for organizing and labeling media content
- Proficiency with Google Suite
- Ability to work independently and with teams, able to decipher problems and create solutions; able to complete tasks with minimal guidance if necessary
- Adept at determining priorities and able to hit deadlines under pressure; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
