We are searching for editors fluent in Adobe Premiere CC to work on a freelance project starting as soon as April 20th and continuing through Summer 2018. This is a project-based editing role. All work done in-house on new Mac Pro systems.

What do editors do here?
Although this is a corporate client, we do not create traditional "corporate videos." We craft compelling documentary-style short films, built around story and character. Our editors play the lead role in crafting the story, combining their artists’ eye with the client’s messaging objectives.

Our editors are part of our team. Multiple editors (6 currently) come into our office to work for several days-weeks at a time (based on project load and their schedules). Though our Editors are given a wide amount of creative freedom, we’re big believers in collaboration and encourage team-wide dialogue about our work to strengthen our collective output and our individual skills.

Who succeeds here?
Editors who understand story and pacing within a scene, love to work around other creative minds, and understand how to incorporate messaging with storylines.

Innate talent, desire and work ethic go a long way - we want to collaborate with other inspiring creatives in our city. A desire to grow and an ability to incorporate feedback are key.

Applicants should be interested in pursuing careers as editors, or, editing must be a passion and not a fallback skill set. There will be plenty of work to keep people busy and we want to set a tone among happy creatives doing a job they enjoy.

Required Skills:
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere CC
Experience and knowledge of Ae, Ps, Sg and Au are not required but major pluses
Ability to cut and deliver micro documentaries and commercials 90-120 seconds in quick turnaround.
Basic sound mixing and color correction are required to deliver a final cut.

Job Description
Finance news brand is seeking an experienced video editor to edit engaging, informative and timely video features, recurring series episodes and in-depth interviews. The video editor will regularly work on segments ranging from eight to 10 minutes with opportunities to expand stories to 25 minutes for OTT platforms.

These originals will be expected to capture viewers' attention through their sharp perspective, approachable style, and clear relevance to the biggest investments and financial questions investors face. You will help spearhead execution across a range of programming formats.

You will work closely with reporters, studio, graphics, and more to elevate brand’s feature video stories. You will be expected to be a strong collaborator and execute an efficient video production process to ensure clean, final delivery. Attention to detail, clear communication and being mindful of deadlines are a must. Strong candidates will be comfortable balancing a variety of projects and deadlines while working with different producers.

Responsibilities:
- Edit original features using Adobe Premiere, for audiences across our daily live distribution onsite and off, YouTube, and major social platforms.
- Help conceptualize, manage and execute visually dynamic, original edits in a deadline-driven environment.
- Stay up-to-date on the workings of company systems including proprietary infrastructures, working with the post support team to source and acquire assets as necessary for projects.
- Communicate in an appropriate and timely manner to relay issues and concerns about individual edits, technical issues and deadlines.
- Regularly update media and project tracking documents as necessary.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day issues with the IT team and post management.
- Develop and grow audience engagement across major platforms and help editorial leads establish and maintain OKR goals
- Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience editing narrative features for onsite and OTT.
- An exceptional storyteller with a proven track record of editing high-quality, original field production with the audience and platform in mind.
- Proficient with Adobe Premiere.
- Must be experienced working with graphic templates and MGRTS within premiere. AfterEffects experience preferred.
- Comfortable sourcing pictures, video, soundbite from subscriptions services, including AP, Reuters, Getty, etc.
- Editor must thrive under deadline pressure and be able to juggle multiple tasks and assignments.
- Clear communicator, both written and verbal.
- Be able to work within and conform to established organizational systems and work/troubleshoot in team environments.
- Quality control of all video assets sent to the control room and published to our site and OTT platforms.

MS *** Digital is hiring an Evening Editor to work with both its opinion and blog teams, and MS *** 's broadcast teams. You will have a deep understanding of what drives conversations and a passion for the many ways politics intersect with culture, climate science, the economy and so much more. You will have excellent news judgment, meticulous copy editing skills, a keen understanding of journalistic standards and a track record that proves you can hew to the standards of the *** U News Group. This is a Tues-Sat schedule, 1p.m. to 10 p.m. EST.

Position is based in New York City, Washington, D.C or Los Angeles.

What you will do:

Work closely with our opinion and blog editors to edit and produce perspective essays and analysis on politics, breaking news and culture
Work with our weekend team to expand MS *** 's digital coverage on Saturdays and Sundays, coordinating both analysis and breaking news coverage as needed
Coordinate with Senior MS *** editors and show producers to anticipate big events, maintain a team-wide editorial calendar and coordinate digital coverage plans for both short and longer-term news.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
3+ years editing in a digital newsroom environment, ideally with opinion journalism experience
Must understand how to craft a compelling lead, angle and headline
