We are searching for editors fluent in Adobe Premiere CC, color correction, and audio mixing, with whom to create a long term freelance relationship. This is a project-based editing role that’s completed in-house on iMac workstations. We will have a steady flow of work towards the end of 2019, and are looking for editing candidates that we can contact on a per project basis. Candidates that have a passion for documentary-style editing and storytelling will succeed in this position.
What do editors do here?
Although we work with many corporate clients, we do not create "corporate videos." We craft documentary-style short films, built around story and character. With direction from our internal staff, our freelance editors play the lead role in crafting the story, combining their artists’ eye with the client’s messaging objectives.
Our editors are part of our team. Multiple editors (usually 5-10) come into our office to work for a few days-weeks at a time (based on our post-production schedule). Though our freelance editors are given a wide amount of creative freedom, we’re big believers in collaboration and encourage team-wide dialogue about our work to strengthen our collective output and our individual skills.
Who succeeds here?
Editors who understand story and pacing within a scene, love to work around other creative minds, and understand how to incorporate messaging with storylines.
Innate talent, desire and work ethic go along way - we want to collaborate with other inspiring creatives in our city. A desire to grow and an ability to incorporate feedback are key. A technical understanding of post-production workflow from footage ingest through exporting deliverables is important as well. Applicants should be interested in pursuing careers as editors, or, editing must be a passion and not a fallback skillset.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere CC
Experience and knowledge of Ps, Au, Ae and DaVinci Resolve are not required but major pluses.
Ability to cut and deliver micro documentaries and commercials 90-180 seconds in quick turnaround.
A strong understanding of color correction and sound mixing to deliver a final cut.
