Job Summary/Description:
The Video Editor (News) is responsible for selecting and editing video for news broadcast each day, communicating with show producers, news reporters and photographers. The Video Editor is responsible for a large volume of the visual content both on-air and online.
This TEMP position requires a part-time work schedule of Monday-Friday from 10a-1230 and 2p-6p, with flexibility in the event of breaking news.
The primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Edit news video that accurately and fairly represents news stories
* Edit video and audio for broadcast, web, and social ***
* Edit and ingest news video from network and other sources for broadcast
* Demonstrates sound news judgment and ability to tell stories with pictures and natural sound
* Must be able to utilize non-linear editing equipment on a daily basis, knowledge of Grass Valley edit is a plus
* Properly maintain editing equipment
* Must be a visual storyteller and have the ability to come up with creative ways to explain a story
* Communicate with reporters, writers, producers and photographers on video needed for news stories
* Respond to breaking news or urgent newsroom situations
* Ability to work well with co-workers and in a professional manner is required.
* Critique, feedback and training are part of the job
* Manage *** storage on News edit systems
* Follow clothing and appearance guidelines
* Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
* Must be able to sit and edit in front of a computer for extended period
* While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit, walk, stand, use hands to finger; reach with hands and arms and hear. Regularly required to sit, reach, bend and move about the facility
* Occasionally morning, evening, or weekend work is required
