We're looking for an Editor for a short film (Afro-futuristic sci-fi comedy) shooting this fall (aiming for October). We have a fun script, a strong, majority-female team and are excited to find the right person to help us tie it all together in post! We have a low-budget, flat rate of $1200 total and are also offering 15% of any possible cash awards we may win from film festivals. We're estimating a 12-15 week post schedule so definitely looking for someone who is freelance and can fit this into their schedule on the side.
Logline: When culture vultures apply for citizenship on a new planet colonized by Black people, three judges must decide how to deal with folks who want everything but the burden.
Please reply with links to your reel as well as any recent shorts you've edited. Will follow up with the script and our director's pitch deck to those who are a good fit and schedule a Zoom meeting from there.

QUEER FOR FEAR is a four part docu-series for a streaming service about the history of queer people in the thriller genre. From its literary origins with queer authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to the pansy craze of the 1920s that greatly informed Universal Monsters and Hitchcock, through the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century and the AIDS obsessed bloodletting of 80s vampire films, QUEER FOR FEAR explores the role of the LGBTQ+ community in front of and behind the camera making the movies that thrill us. Through this rainbow lens, we will re-examine genre stories not as violent, murderous narratives, but as tales of survival that resonate thematically with queer audiences everywhere.
The project is Executive Produced by Bryan Fuller (American Gods, Star Trek: Discovery, Hannibal, etc) and Steak House (The Mustang, Disney Launchpad).
We’re looking for a Los Angeles-based Editor with documentary experience. Candidate must be fluent in AVID and have a knack for making archival footage and talking-head interviews sing and sparkle. Having a solid knowledge of horror films and experience with archival footage is preferred. Position starts August 29th-ish and runs through late September. Rate is $600/day.
You would join our current team of editors and AEs to co-edit an episode. Rough cuts and scripts are already in-progress, so you would hop into the mix wherever needed. The release date for Episode 1 is September 30th, so we are working at a fast pace to complete the final episodes.

Looking for an editor to work on seven-part docuseries entitled SafeSets: Keeping Healthy and Sane in the Motion Picture Industry. The ideal candidate will be able to work in person with the director at our production office in Waltham, Massachusetts. Job will likely be five days per week, 7 hours per day in person.
About the Project:
With over thirty interviews featuring entertainment industry leaders (ranging from A-list actors such as Jon Hamm and John Malkovich to union leaders, producers, editors and everyone in between), Safe Sets explores both the unsung successes of on-set safety procedures and publicly lambasted failures such as the tragic deaths of Halyna Hutchins on Rust and Jai Harris on Deadpool 2. The series also lifts the hood on little known but far more pervasive issues such as sleep deprivation, chronic stress, physical strains, mental health issues, substance abuse, toxic exposures and much more.
With COVID protocols increasing health and safety awareness on set, the recent IATSE strike, the Me Too movement, lengthening work days, and more, we feel the time is ripe for change in the industry and perhaps you do too.
