ob Summary:
The Editor is responsible for developing and creating video content that informs, inspires, and engages diverse audiences at the aquarium and beyond to conserve the ocean. The Editor works closely with internal and external producers, developers, designers, digital artists/animators, programmers, and audio technicians to deliver innovative and high-quality video projects on time and on budget.
Core Responsibilities
Operates all Aquarium post-production hardware and software at an advanced level
Edits video products for exhibits, educational programs, public relations, and marketing
Follows and executes production schedules
Maintains the catalogue and Digital Archive as needed
Works with Exhibit designers and developers to conceptualize and create video programming that meets department goals
Conducts and supervises stock footage research as needed
Works with interdepartmental teams to conceptualize and create video programming that meets the needs of collaborating departments
Conducts research, creates storyboards, writes scripts, develops prototypes and other visual communication materials as required for project development and approvals
Participates in a cross-departmental team of videographers and editors to make video that supports the aquarium's online communication goals
Maintains the Digital Archive as needed
Assists with lighting, props, location, securing talent, and operating production equipment
Promotes and encourages a positive and collaborative work environment for Film & Video and its client departments
Serves as project manager on assigned projects, creating and managing project schedules, budgets, plans and leading project teams to ensure success criteria are met on time, and on budget.
Absolutely Required Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education
Bachelor's degree in related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional video editing capacity
Advanced post-production skills, including editing, compositing, and motion graphics
Familiarity with UHD (4k) field production and post-production workflows
Advanced knowledge of video encoding for web use and computer-based video playback equipment
Expert skills with Adobe creative suite especially Aftereffects, Photoshop, illustrator
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experienced team player with strong interpersonal skills
