Job Description
BYUtv is seeking an innovative and experienced freelance scripted producer to work as a network producer for BYUtv. You will oversee a variety of scripted programming from initial development through current production and final delivery. The producer will work directly with our internal content development team at BYUtv and will work in close contact with our Director of Content and/or Executive Producers.

Primary focus for this position will be on BYUtv but the producer may be assigned to oversee projects for any BYUB channel/property.

Assigned development and production activities include:
Casting and design
Creation of new series in partnership with external production companies
Development of scripts
Noting episodes from rough cut to final delivery
Working closely with internal and external producers, cast, and crew throughout the development, production, and post-production process, including auxiliary materials (press materials, marketing assets, etc.)
Working closely with the production management team to help oversee and enforce budgets schedules
Working closely with internal marketing managers to ensure alignment between content and marketing

Requirements
Equivalent primetime work experience as a scripted network/studio executive OR as a co-executive level producer (or above) on original scripted programming in hour, half-hour, animated, live-action, drama, and/or comedy series
An established strategic and creative record of developing commercially and critically successful programming
Demonstrated knowledge of the scripted series production process
Deep understanding of a family friendly and co-viewing audience

Job Description

This position will crash day of air pieces and breaking news, so writing, edit, and strong storytelling skills are a must. Essential Responsibilities

Field Producer, ***

The Field Producer brainstorms and pitches ideas, researches topics and works closely with reporter(s) to advance stories, break news and produce segments both in studio and in the field.

What you'll do:

Working both independently and with reporters/anchors to produce original business news content, primarily for broadcast and additionally for digital and social.
Production responsibilities may include research, conducting interviews, writing and editing, field producing and overseeing editing.
Pitching story ideas and working on assigned stories developed by the editorial planning team.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with, and being knowledgeable of and current on companies in the universe of coverage.
Communicating clearly with reporter and field production crews to determine best coverage plan and live remote locations.

*** is looking for a proactive journalist who is passionate about Asia and would relish the challenge of becoming a Field Producer based in our Japan bureau. The successful candidate will be primarily assigned to stories in Japan but may be required to cover news anywhere in the world.

The Field Producer is part of *** 's award winning International Newsgathering operation. Responsibilities include coming up with ideas for distinctive stories, researching them and making successful pitches to editorial leaders. The successful candidate will then see stories through to broadcast and publication. Producers are also required to work up budgets for stories and ensure those budgets are adhered to.

Breaking news is a key component of what *** does. Your Role Accountabilities...

The Field Producer is a key position which requires making editorial decisions, coordinating logistics and overseeing the quality of our news coverage in the field and in the bureau.
