We are seeking a talented and experienced Hair and Makeup Artist to join our production team for a TV pilot filming for 2 weeks in the Chicago area. Filming is scheduled between the end of August through early September. The HMU will be needed for 11, 12-hour days of filming. On heavier days, there will be a HMU Assistant provided.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining the desired look for actors through hair and makeup, ensuring consistency and quality throughout the filming process.
Responsibilities:
Design and Application:
- Collaborate with directors, costume designers, and actors to create suitable hair and makeup styles that reflect characters and settings.
- Develop sketches and concepts for approval prior to application.
- Apply makeup and style hair to achieve the desired look, using various techniques and products.
On-Set Maintenance:
- Perform touch-ups and maintain hair and makeup continuity throughout filming.
- Ensure that makeup and hair designs are consistently applied across different scenes and shooting days.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the director and other department heads to ensure the overall visual continuity and aesthetic of the production
- Communicate effectively with cast and crew, providing a calm and professional demeanor on set.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Hair and Makeup Artist in film, TV, or theater production.
- SFX makeup (bruises, blood, gunshot wounds, etc)
- Portfolio showcasing previous work.
- Excellent knowledge of hair and makeup techniques, products, and tools.
- Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Rate is $350 per day.
