Production: Educational spots for a senior living brand. You'll be working with our on-camera talent ranging from young adults to senior adults, and a variety of skin tones and hair types.

We are looking for a Los Angeles area based experienced Makeup Artist/Hair Assistant as we approach the start of production for a low-budget feature length drama with 11 shoot days and possible prep day. Duties include assisting Key Makeup Artist, the ability to determine the correct material and application according to lighting, setting and physical facial features, and cares for, cut and styles the hair of the acting professionals. Democracy Now! seeks an experienced hair and makeup professional to provide hair and makeup services for our live one-hour daily TV news broadcast. The Hair and Makeup Artist will be responsible for the daily application of makeup and light hairstyling for 1-2 hosts and up to 6 guests. The role will require a high level of proficiency in makeup application for both women and men, as well as the ability to work quickly and understand the pace of television news. This position reports to the Production and Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

- Apply makeup and light hairstyling for 1-2 regular hosts and up to 0-6 guests for a daily TV news broadcast.
- Style hair and apply makeup appropriately for television on deadline and with a high level of proficiency.
- Maintain and organize inventory and supplies.
- Keep the hair and makeup room tidy.
- Reliably report for work on-time to perform work in advance of an 8:00 a.m. live TV broadcast.

Qualifications

- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of cosmetic/make-up experience working in LIVE television news getting talent camera ready.
- Must have the ability to work with varied face shapes, all skin tones, and hair textures.
- Demonstrated ability in hairstyling for both men and women.
- Promptness and dependability are a must.
- A warm, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Maintain a professional manner as a representative of Democracy Now! when greeting and looking after talent appearing on-air.
- Formal beauty or makeup technical school certification preferred.
- Must be available to work week shifts starting at 7:00 a.m. for the live daily TV & radio newscast at 8 a.m.

Compensation

- $200 - $225 per day for a 7:00 - 9:30 a.m. shift
