DESCRIPTION:
A highly visible, national advocacy and lobbying organization with headquarters offices in Washington, DC is looking to engage a Graphic Designer in a temporary, on-site assignment that will be ongoing between January 9 and March 31. We are hoping to identify an early to mid-career designer who has demonstrable motion graphics design skills, but who can also design and produce terrific print work. Our ideal applicant will also ideally have some experience designing and building presentations in Keynote.
The person who is chosen for this role will be contributing to and collaborating with a large team of marketing and communications professionals who will be working together toward an annual conference that will take place in Washington, DC during the final weekend of March 2017. The conference welcomes more than fifteen-thousand participants annually, from all 50 states and all over the world. Guests and speakers include leaders from all over the world. Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and President Elect Donald Drumpf were among the speakers at the 2016 conference. It is an interesting and exciting event that will take place at the DC Convention Center and the Verizon Center. It is managed behind the scenes by a team of smart people who work well together.
Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects are the only must-have skill sets. Previous experience working in Apple Keynote would be a greatly appreciated bonus. Here is how our client breaks down their needs, in order of importance:
#1 - Motion graphics design and production
(for wayfinding and possibly storytelling w/in videos)
#2 - E-mail design-only
(will be integrated into and distributed via Eloqua)
#3 - Print design and production
(newsletters; environmental graphics/signage)
#4 - Keynote design and production
#5 - interactive design
(online ads and social media graphics)
DUTIES:
*Participate in project launch meetings with internal clients and project managers.
*Deliver exciting and fresh designs to internal clients while meeting the organization's brand guidelines and style guide requirements.
*Communicate regularly with traffic coordinator and project managers to meet deadlines before final delivery of projects.
*Work with print vendors when needed to ensure proper delivery files.
*Work with technology developer when needed for Eloqua and other interactive designs to ensure proper delivery files.
*Organize project files within file management systems and actively participate in management of project database to ensure up-to-date information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Graphic designer with excellent print and digital design skills.
* Must be as comfortable creating print materials with InDesign as with creating animated designs for digital signage.
*Expert in InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, and Keynote.
*Superior editorial judgment.
*The ability to see a project from concept through to delivery.
*Able to receive creative feedback and criticism constructively and remain flexible to changing client needs.
*Ability to think creatively while still ensuring brand consistency.
*Must have knowledge of file deliverables to print vendors.
*An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (concentration of studies in communications, graphic design, or visual arts a plus).
HOURS / LOCATION:
This is an on-site role. All work will be done at the organization’s offices in NW, DC. The individual who is offered this position will also work on-site at the organization’s annual conference during the last week of March 2017. Work days will be Monday - Friday, with regular business hours. There will some required evening overtime, but not weekend overtime -- except for the weekend of the event, which is an all-hands-on-deck situation.
The employer's offices are easily accessible via car, Metrorail and Metrobus.
RATE:
We can pay within the broad rate range of $30 - $45/hour. Our goal is always to compensate freelancers/consultants/vendors as well as possible within the budget provided by our clients. In this case, while we can offer up to $45/hour if necessary, we are striving to identify a terrific designer who is does not take us to the top of our range.
Brainstorm pays an overtime rate of time-and-a-half to all employees who work more than 40/hours during any given week.
The actual rate offered will be commensurate with your experience and will be largely based on the following factors: credentials as detailed in your resume, your interview experiences with Brainstorm Creative Resources and/or our client, and quality of reference providers and references provided.
