Ark Media is a documentary production company in downtown Brooklyn, and we’re looking for an NYC-based Post Production Manager. This will be a staff position, working closely with our Post Production Supervisor, overseeing several films and/or television series in various stages of post-production. Currently, we’re we’re working in a hybrid situation, half-remote/half-on-site (in a socially distanced office environment), although we anticipate returning to full on-site eventually. BIPOC applicants are encouraged. This is a non-union job.
Ark Media’s films and television series have aired on HBO, Netflix, and PBS, and screened at Sundance and Tribeca. Our work has won numerous Emmy and Peabody Awards.
Prior experience as an Ass’t Editor for non-fiction films/TV will be an asset. An in-depth understanding of editing software—particularly Avid—is critical.
Responsibilities include:
Working with directors, producers, and archival researchers to create routines and workflows specific to each project's needs
Working with the Post Supervisor and VP of Production to create budgets, schedules, and workflows for each project
Working with the Post Supervisor and Post Coordinator to address editors’ and assistant editors’ needs
Coordinating online edits and sound mixes
Working with VFX and Motion Graphics teams
Working with the Post Supervisor and Post Coordinator to interview, hire and train Assistant Editors
Working with Ark's IT Manager/Post Production Engineer to trouble-shoot tech issues
Overseeing and managing daily work and routines of editors and AEs, with an eye on budgets and deadlines
Working occasionally as an Assistant Editor capacity when necessary
Required skills and experience:
Minimum five years' experience working in post-production, on theatrical releases, or broadcast television
Highly experienced with Avid Media Composer
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are an absolute must
Proficient with Google and Excel spreadsheets
Solid understanding of post-production processes and workflows
Experience working with shared media storage (Isis, Terrablock, or similar systems)
Working knowledge of the finishing stages of a film or television series for theatrical release or broadcast (color correction, online edit, sound mix, and deliverables)
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
Proficiency with Davinci Resolve
Familiar with New York City post-production facilities
Experience working with archival assets (especially in terms of delivering assets that will pass network QCs)
Experience with project management software
Experience with green screen workflows
