*** 's Digital Video News team creates original video content for all *** platforms, including our social video accounts. We write, produce, shoot and edit, working collaboratively across the organization to cover breaking news, trending topics, and important issues. From mass shootings to immigration to the climate crisis, we tell human-centered stories with the aim of informing, inspiring and engaging the largest global digital audience in news today.
Your New Role...The *** Digital Video News team is looking for a Production Assistant. This position will primarily support video production and will span *** 's domestic & international news, business, features and politics coverage, as well as sponsorships and vertical video initiatives for our social *** platforms. The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a flexible attitude and a creative mind.
Production Assistants will assist other producers with newsgathering and production. They will monitor the news cycle, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, edit video in-house and have the opportunity to join producers in the field. Production Assistants can learn from some of the industry's best digital storytellers and work with colleagues from across *** Digital's operations around the world.
This position can be based in New York or Atlanta.
Your Role Accountabilities...- Researching, writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms
- Monitoring breaking news, live events and search/social trends
- Taking part in creative brainstorming and generating story ideas
- Assisting with in-studio and local shoots
- Experimenting with new video formats on multiple platforms
- Gathering elements including photos and historical footage
- Assisting reporters and producers with story research and newsgathering
- Completing production workflows within *** 's content management systems
Qualifications & Experience...- Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or video production, or relevant work experience
- 0-2 year's experience in newsroom environment preferred
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software
- Strong interest in news
- Familiarity with digital video and social *** platforms
- Basic skills with DSLR cameras a plus
- Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills -- a team player who is ready to jump in quickly whenever news breaks
- Ability to work in a fast, high-pressure environment
- Work schedule flexibility. Must be able to work AM, PM, weekend and holiday shifts
- Must be able to work and adjust to a rotational schedule across different *** .com verticals, with periods of evening and weekend work
- Foreign language skills a plus

The Legal Bits...In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of *** Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $38,147.00 - $70,845.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, *** Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
