Overview: *** News and Stations Detroit owned & operated in the #14 television market Detroit, is looking for a Production Assistant to join our *** News Detroit team. We are looking for someone to assist our team of Multi-Skilled Producers and Assignment Editors. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a 24/7 Live and Streaming News environment.
Responsibilties: - Assist Assignment Editors with researching and verifying sources for potential news stories.
- Assist Multi-Skilled Producers with putting packages together for air.
- Learn how to time broadcasts and insure they are correct on the stream and on air.
- Assist Multi-Skilled Journalists in the field when necessary.
- Operate teleprompter during newscasts, and operate a jib and studio cameras.
- Establish and maintain relationships/sources in the community.
- Assist Web Produces with content for Twitter, Facebook and other social *** sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Strong communication skills required.
- Must be able to learn quickly.
- Work well with a variety of people.
- Meet the tough standards of the high- pressure environment of a news broadcasting production.
- Must be available to work a non-traditional schedule, including nights, overnights, and/or weekends as necessary.
- B.A. Degree with some background in Journalism preferred.
- Knowledge of television production, previous internships with news organizations, and familiarity with Southeastern Michigan is helpful.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
