JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Freelance Production Assistant to be part of a one-year Rotational Program with the *** Weather Programming team. If your dream is to be a producer and you are interested in gathering more experience in this industry, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Freelance Production Assistants will rotate among morning/weekend, midday, and primetime programming teams, immersing themselves in different dayparts, each with its own unique strategy and feel. • Pitch stories daily with topics ranging from the most important breaking weather news to features on weather-related stories of interest
• Provide support to the production team as they build segments, manage breaking news, and work on long-term projects
• Find the best sound bites, video and graphics for the most informative and compelling segments
• Write banners, cut video, and on the rare occasion, book guests all while quickly responding to breaking weather news
• Quickly identify strong user-generated content from multiple sources, ensuring the best elements are incorporated into *** Weather coverage
• Work in coordination with Associate Producers, Producers, and Senior Producers
• Find the best sound bites, video, live cameras and graphics for the most informative and compelling segments

Job Description

As a Production Assistant, you will work with the production team to help deliver live and same day delay event coverage during the Olympic Games.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a project / limited term position with an estimated duration of 1 month during Games Time, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Research and build a variety of on-air graphic elements
• Work with Chyron operator to deliver graphics in a live control room and to a post-production environment
• Assist production personnel in all phases of Olympic sports production
• Report to the show producer/associate producer and execute tasks needed to finalize and deliver shows for broadcast
• Proactively develop and communicate ideas to improve broadcasts

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or related field
• Minimum one(1) year ofgraphics experience in Sports Television Production, preferably in live control room and in post-production environments

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience as graphics production assistant
• Versatile, self-motivated, energetic

Your New Role...

The *** Digital Video News team is looking for a Production Assistant. This position will primarily support video production and will span *** 's domestic & international news, business, features and politics coverage, as well as sponsorships and vertical video initiatives for our social *** platforms. The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a flexible attitude and a creative mind.

Production Assistants will assist other producers with newsgathering and production. They will monitor the news cycle, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, edit video in-house and have the opportunity to join producers in the field. Production Assistants can learn from some of the industry's best digital storytellers and work with colleagues from across *** Digital's operations around the world.

This position can be based in New York or Atlanta.

Job Description

• Work closely with Associate Producers and Producers by assisting them in editing video and graphics
• Help research and fact check stories with speed and accuracy
• Pitch smart and engaging stories for daily and future segments that will resonate with our audience

Qualifications

• You've worked in broadcast, digital or cable, including internships, for at least 1+ years

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Assist Brand Creative Production Management team with coordination on team projects.

• Oversee audio mix sessions.
  
• Coordinate footage delivery from show production teams, building relationships and working to obtain footage in a timely manner.

Production Assistants are responsible for master control and audio board/floor director operations during newscasts.

Monitoring the quality and accuracy of our on-air signals as well as ensuring the transmission meets government regulations and the station's high standards. Building automated playback logs. Preparing material for on-air playback via an automation system. Verify all material airing by referencing timing sheets and dub lists. Perform on-air switching for live events. Operating recording hardware, satellite receivers and computer-based systems. Monitoring transmitter power levels and tower lights to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and meeting FCC regulations. Anticipate and troubleshoot issues when they occur. Perform other duties as assigned.

Audio operator's responsibilities may include -

Preparation of the audio board and equipment for shows, as well as maintaining the quality of sound throughout the newscast. Controlling CGs throughout newscast. Audio ops are responsible for checking sound levels on microphones and other audio equipment functionality, including running sound checks, and troubleshooting sound equipment.

Other responsibilities may include -

Assembling, preparing and setting up equipment and the studio prior to newscasts, which may include, monitors, lighting, cables, mics and headsets. Finding solutions to technical or other practical problems. Being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas. Working quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor.
