Tony Award-winning production company, Apples and Oranges, seeks a highly motivated Production Assistant to join our National High School Musical Theatre Awards virtual production team.
Better known as The Jimmy Awards, The National High School Musical Theatre Awards are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement, recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance and elevating the importance of theatre arts education in schools, presented by The Broadway League. While the awards, and affiliated educational programming, are typically held in-person, in New York City, this year’s event will be conducted virtually.
Apples and Oranges will produce all video coverage of the 10-day program where 72 nominees from around the country work with top musical theatre talent, guests and coaches to learn a full length show that will be presented to a panel of industry judges and the general public. While the program is largely educational in nature, the nominees are competing for college scholarships and a chance to join the many successful Jimmy Awards alumni in the professional performing arts.
The Production Assistant will work closely with the Production and Post-Production teams to assist with various clerical, logistic and creative tasks including the distribution and collection of releases and other paperwork, coordinating shipments, making calls, managing hard drives, virtual recording and preparing reports. Successful candidates should have experience working with distributed teams and be comfortable working in a fast paced, creative environment. Flexibility, strong communication skills, resourcefulness and a positive attitude are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Detail-oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills, works well independently, comfortable with high-volume multi-tasking, professional demeanor, great interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Zoom
• PA Experience in docu-reality style television production or similar fast-moving, multi-cam production environment
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word and access to a computer and fast/reliable internet
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working remotely, with distributed teams
• Understanding of the musical theatre production process and modern landscape
• Experience working in the musical theater industry or on related projects
• Based in New York City area (not required)
