Greetings Virgin...ians! Virginians. Really rolls off the tongue. Okay, hello! This is exciting because I am posting a job that is located in a city. Or city-ish. City...adjacent. But listen, the last few locations I have posted jobs for have had populations well under 10,000 people. So, in comparison, Richmond is looking like New York City. Granted, we are not actually FILMING in Richmond but hey. Semantics.
Alright, here's the skinny:
- Our crew is staying in Richmond, but we are filming approximately 1 hour away in Cumberland.
- We'd have you meet us at the hotel, help us load in, and then drive or ride in one of our vehicles to set
- If you happen to live closer to Cumberland, we can work out a scenario where you meet us on set instead of at the hotel. However, if you live closer to Cumberland...why? Genuinely curious...were you born here? Are you being held against your will? (Kidding, mostly, I’m sure it is a great place…but blink twice if you are in danger)
- Side Bar: I've driven through Virginia many times, but I don't think I've actually ever BEEN there so take my judgment lightly. I know I might seem pretty serious from this post, but believe it or not, I have made approximately 1-2 jokes in my lifetime
- I will be hiring around 5 people for this position. If you make the cut, it means that I must really like you or I am really desperate. I won't tell you which.
Now, let's run over a few scenarios.
You: Hi, I live in Los Angeles*, but I'd love to work on this. Will you pay for my airfare and hotel?
Me: Nice try, but no. This position is posted for LOCALS because sadly, our budget does not allow for us to house PAs. I've tried looking under the couch cushions for loose change, but they've been picked clean.
*or any other city/town/location NOT in Virginia
You: Okay, I'll work as a local, but can you give me per diem?
Me: Locals do not get per diem, you naive, sophisticated newborn baby. So again, no dice.
You: Alright alright, I get it. My cousin's best friend's neighbor's grandmother lives in or around Richmond and said I can stay there.
Me: Weird! But fine by me. If you can work as a local, then that works for me!
(In this circumstance, please let me know how you plan to work as a local. Don't just apply that you can work as a local without stating how. Why not? Because a LOT of people do this and then can't actually work as a local. So while my time might only be worth around a nickel, please do not waste it)
OKAY. A couple more things. Are you even still reading this? Doubt it. If you are, prove it!
- Please note: we will be outdoors most, if not all, of the time. If you are allergic to sun, rain, clouds, snow or any other type of weather, this one might not be for you.
- PA duties will be your standard, run of the mill tasks. Setup/breakdown crafty, catering, basecamp; runs into town; filling up vehicles with fuel; etc
- Can you drive a cargo van? (This is not necessarily a deal breaker, but it is helpful if you can. Please be honest)
- Do you have your own vehicle? (We would need you to provide your own transportation to/from our crew hotel and you would then drive a production vehicle to set. You will be required to fill out a DMV background check)
One final note, as I can hear you telling me to shut up and get to the point already.....
Rate: $210/12
Date Range: 11/3 - 11/17 (anticipate 4-5 days per week)
