*** seeks a talented Production Assistant - Contributor/Analyst Teamto join the Recruiting & Talent Development team in Washington, DC or New York, NY!
Your Role Accountabilities...
Scout and source a variety of talent for potential roles at *** including on-air, off-air and possible contributor voice additions. Pitch news talent, research, vet and evaluate subject matter experts. Meet with potential contributors and evaluate their expertise - including recommendations for possible next recruiting steps. Serve as *** point-of-contact for key contributors - managing live hits, partnering with show bookers to coordinate interviews, and working directly with contributors to prep them with editorial and logistics information. Offer feedback on contributor hits. Help produce special coverage and breaking news involving contributors, including on weekends. Help manage talent and drive their editorial contributions during special coverage and breaking news across all platforms. Keep contributor and talent materials up-to-date. Track contributor usage on daily shows, breaking news and special coverage. Cut and distribute clips of certain contributor hits. Book catering needs, travel logistics, and serve as contributor guest greeter during special coverage. Coordinate contributor logistics including booking travel, studio requests, hair/makeup needs and arrival times. Compile off-air interview requests for approval from senior management. Organize special coverage contributor budgets and manage contributors' technical needs. Work as liaison for *** contributors and *** staff. Demonstrate professionalism, urgency, and attention in interactions with contributors. Show discretion when it comes to contributor agreements and roster. Oversee the Director's schedule of contributor meetings and feedback calendar. Keep organizational charts for show staffs, contributors' contacts and locations up-to-date
Qualifications & Experience...
- Candidate must have 1+ years of editorial/news experience
- Research skills, especially the ability to find and vet potential talent, are essential to this position
- Ability to anticipate team needs, react to breaking news and have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to multi-task, execute quickly, and have strong editorial judgment
- A knowledge of current events and politics, key players and global affairs are a must
- Must be willing to travel for special events
- Must be able to interact with high-level talent

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of *** Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $35,360 - $64,301.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Your Role Accountabilities...
- Research, pitch, and execute production of video and graphic elements for segments and guest interviews for a daily, live two-hour news program
- Edit individual video elements
- Fact check and quality check video and graphic elements
- Assist video producer during live control room production
- Create and publish social *** content for multiple platforms as well as work with team to evolved and adapt our social *** strategy
- Consult with segment and senior producers on editorial and elements, including finding and pitching elements each day
- Liaise with *** 's designers for custom images and templates
- Liaise with *** 's legal, standards, and rights and clearances teams to properly source show elements
- Liaise with *** 's various beats, desks, and teams to procure quality video in a fast-paced production environment
- Follow along with video feeds, satellite feeds, guest logistics, and many other elements of live and taped production
- Participate in live production on election nights
- Mentor show team interns
- Demonstrate excellent editorial judgement
Qualifications & Experience...
- A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study or equivalent experience
- At least one year experience working in news with some control room experience
- Background in video and graphic production
- Background in social *** content creation and publishing
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, breaking news environment
- Proven attention to detail and enthusiasm for proofing your work as well as others' work in a collaborative, but demanding environment
- Ability to juggle many tasks at once
- Demonstrated detail-oriented approach to work
- Strong knowledge of and interest in current events, Washington news, political news, and breaking news
- Strong editorial judgement
- Ability to be persistent, but professional and diplomatic
- Strong communication and organizational skills
