We're looking for a Production Manager for a variety of media initiatives including original digital video series (both studio and field), Festival-related live events, and one-off programs. You'll work closely with the Director of Media to keep projects running smoothly and ensure they are completed on schedule and on budget. This is a great opportunity for an experienced coordinator to move up and grow with our expanding media department.
Responsibilities:
● Manage the department budget; track all costs including invoice purchase; keep cost reports up to date.
● Create production/editing schedules and track deadlines.
● Manage video shoots, both in the studio and on location.
● Hire freelance production crew and editors as needed and negotiate rates of pay.
● Negotiate vendor, talent, and location contracts for productions and obtain necessary permits and insurance.
● Draft deal memos for outside freelance crew, producers and editors.
● Rent or purchase video/lighting/audio and production/post equipment as needed.
● Hire and manage Production Coordinators and PAs as needed.
● Obtain, log, and archive location/personal releases.
● Obtain rights and clearances for third party media.
● During the NYC Festival, coordinate the delivery of media to appropriate venues and manage communications between the outside production company responsible for filming the programs.
● Support requests from producers for transcripts, video exports, etc.
Qualifications And Special Requirements:
● 5+ years experience managing both field and studio video productions.
● Ideal candidate has managed non-fiction media projects for a variety of outlets including short form for digital channels/social/web as well as long form for broadcast.
● Experience managing budgets and below-the-line freelancers.
● Able to juggle and manage multiple projects with frequently changing schedules and deadlines.
● Knowledge of the latest digital media production technologies including video formats (HD, 4K, 360 VR) and related camera, grip and lighting gear.
● Familiarity with the post-production process including the latest animation and editing software, live streaming, and media backup software.
● Proficient with Google Docs, Word, and Excel. Familiar with Movie Magic, Adobe Creative Suite, YouTube, and Facebook Live.
● Able and willing to work extended, flexible hours when needed.
● Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Video Production, Communications, etc.)
● Background and/or interest in science a plus.
