Publicity Coordinator

Shout! Factory was formed in 2003 by Rhino Entertainment founder Richard Foos and long-time Rhino executives Bob Emmer and Garson Foos with the goal of bringing to market the best in pop culture entertainment. Since then, that mission has extended from releasing carefully curated and superbly packaged Blu-ray and DVD offerings of classic and contemporary TV series and movies, critically acclaimed animation, live music and comedy specials to the launch of a digital entertainment streaming service and the distribution of original productions across a variety of platforms.

We are searching for a Publicity Coordinator to join our team in Los Angeles. The Coordinator is part of a four-person publicity team and will have endless opportunities to be involved in all areas of publicity. The Publicity Coordinator is responsible for supporting the department’s administrative needs, as well as executing publicity campaigns across a variety of platforms and entertainment types. The Publicity Coordinator should be a quick learner, able to work individually and as part of a team, and to be inventive and adept at helping the department to run smoothly.

Reports to: Associate Vice President, Publicity
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Key Responsibilities
• Provide general day-to-day administrative support to the publicity staff as needed (e.g. invoices, calendar, department projects, etc)
• Utilize media software (Filemaker Pro, Meltwater) to maintain contact databases and online pressroom
• Maintain a database of media contacts using FileMaker Pro. Monitor and share news of journalists moving to different organizations, changes of position or coverage, share news with PR team and help keep database up to date.
• Maintain press site with artwork, press releases, etc.
• Monitor and compile media breaks and press reports to share with executives and partners
• Coordinate and complete press mailings and shipments with fulfillment center and on-site, as needed
• Direct new press requests and inquiries, and research new traditional and nontraditional outreach opportunities
• Research and develop genre and platform-specific press contact and outlet lists
• Collect press quotes and clips for various company newsletters and one-off needs
• Attend marketing, publicity, and client meetings
• Organize and coordinate on-site publicity for events as needed
• Produce and edit press material and strategic publicity plans specific to each of the company’s varied imprints
• Stay current with industry news and trends by weekly reading of trades as well as a variety of magazines, newspapers, and websites that we work with and share pertinent articles and contacts with PR team.
• Pitch and secure targeted digital, print, broadcast and social press coverage for various entertainment releases

Requirements
• Excellent verbal/written communications, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• A high proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of film and television industry and various platforms.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous work experience in entertainment publicity is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and trends is strongly preferred.
• Prior agency and/or studio publicity experience is preferred.
