Position: Small Claims Court Researcher (Stringer)

Job description: Stringer/researcher will go to courts to research information contained in pending small claims cases. In some instances, stringer may need to drive a good distance to and from courts. Driving time is paid for, and mileage is reimbursed. Stringer will need to stay in regular and frequent contact with NBC Universal office. This is a FREELANCE position (not employed by NBCU).

Requirements: Self-motivated, efficient, professional and organized, good communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, technical skills, and possess a working car with insurance. Legal/court knowledge is helpful, but not necessary.

You must fulfill weekly obligation consistently to retain position. This is a part-time job which ends when the show stops production for the season in approximately 4 months.

Salary: $12/hour OR state minimum wage (whichever is higher); $0.57.5/mile. Work-related expenses will be reimbursed (photocopying, etc).

The Researcher position at Nightly News Weekend is a great opportunity to learn and master all of the building blocks of broadcast news, while also gaining experience working on deeply reported and highly produced pieces for air.

As a Researcher, you will work directly with Producers and Senior Producers to help write and assist in the production of original content for Nightly News.

Responsibilities:

Assist in producing original news content, primarily for broadcast, including, but not limited to, research, conducting interviews, writer and editing scripts, field producing and shooting, and overseeing editing

Job Summary/Description:

The Technical *** Producer is a collision of art and science in one exciting role. The science is in the technical operation of the television station, interacting with a variety of technologies to succeed daily. The art is in the use of your knowledge, skills and interest in news, entertainment and production to execute live newscasts and run station programming as seamlessly as possible each day.

The Technical *** Producer's general responsibility is directing live or pre-recorded productions as assigned, monitoring ****'s on-air streams, transmitter, FCC logs and ingesting daily programming and commercial inventory. Regular assignments will involve directing specific newscasts, misc. station productions, and various elements for the web channel.

Duties/responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

- Monitor and manage FCC program & transmitter logs and to comply with FCC broadcast regulations
- Work with AP ENPS, newsroom computer system
- Prep *** for news as needed
- Understanding of all equipment in *** and production areas
- Work closely with all other departments to meet all daily demands
- Training of new personnel as assigned
- Assist in maintaining clean *** and production areas - Daily work with the following platforms: Ross Overdrive automation, Ross production video switcher, Nverzion automation, Utah Scientific House routing system, Ross Xpression graphics, Adobe Suite, and supporting equipment in the control room. Applications of these skill will include effectively operating robotic camera controls, prompter operation, audio operation and a working knowledge of in-house web production
