WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the general direction of an assigned supervisor design, install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify all types of specialized equipment in a digital television studio, motion picture sound stage, post-production facility, viewing rooms, and all other film, television, and audio productions.
There is currently one full-time (40 hours/week, 12 months/year) vacancy located at Moorpark College, pending Board approval.
This recruitment is also being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Moorpark College, one of three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District, was founded in 1967. It serves approximately 15,000 students, and with a "students first" philosophy, empowers its diverse community of learners to complete their goals for academic transfer, basic skills, and career education. Moorpark College is one of the most beautiful community colleges in California. New Employees: Generally, new employees are placed on the first step of the appropriate range of the salary schedule.Current Employees: An employee who is promoted will be placed on the salary step of the new range of the appropriate salary schedule that provides a minimum increase comparable to a one-step increase in salary.
Representative Duties
Design, operate, and install a wide variety of digital and analog equipment used in a digital TV studio, field productions, recording studio, radio station, and post-production facility. This includes, but is not limited to digital cameras, video production switchers, digital time-base delays, solid-state storage devices, sync generators, character generators, on-demand systems, studio and remote camera control units, studio and field lighting (including power distribution), dimming, rigging and instruments, sound, audio, and podcasting microphones and mixers, video projectors, and computers. Prepare equipment and materials for use by students and faculty in the laboratories, and ensures equipment is assembled correctly, operated safely, and returned properly. E
Demonstrate proper use and care of materials, equipment, supplies, and software to instructors and students. E
Inspect, clean, adjust, maintain, and make minor repairs on a variety of equipment. Determine when repairs are necessary and schedules vendors to provide more complex repairs as needed, and serves as a liaison with equipment services providers, vendors, and suppliers. E
Analyze and diagnose engineering and software problems using schematics and logic probes down to the circuit level. E
Use operational manuals, schematic drawings, and diagnostic equipment and software to locate equipment malfunctions. E
Calibrate equipment using oscilloscopes, voltage meters, current meters, signal generators, digital logic analyzers, and audio and spectrum analyzers. E
Consult with faculty on specific needs of supplies and equipment. Research, order, receive, and store all course, broadcasting, streaming, podcasting, audio, radio, and on-location filming supplies, materials and equipment, in an orderly condition. E
Download, store and maintain media and data records for post-production editing and courses. E
Maintain a variety of records for inventory, purchasing, and repairs, including a detailed inventory of all media production equipment; oversee procedures for issuing and receiving equipment and supplies to students and instructors. E
Troubleshoot equipment problems during class, on-location student productions, and campus productions. E
Consult with faculty on specific needs of student workers. Interview and hire the student workers with the consultation of faculty. Train and provide work direction to student workers. E
Monitor the use of software by students in the editing laboratories and provide technical support to help complete projects. E
Determine appropriate recording and rehearsal schedules for studio, portable and remote units and systems. E
Design and fabricate special audio and visual systems for production, editing and remote recording functions. E
Set up and prepare studio and television control room for production; support the editing of television productions.?E
May support students in video production techniques; provide technical direction related to set design, lighting design and audio mixing techniques. E
Work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and ethnic communities. E

Minimum Qualifications
An associate degree or equivalent college units (60 semester or 90 quarter units) from a recognized college or university with a major in media arts, broadcasting, cinema, film, television, or a related field, AND two years of professional experience working in a digital media setting such as a television station, studio, or production company which includes experience recording and editing video and audio content.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (T&E) EVALUATION:
A T&E is an assessment of training and experience, beyond the minimum requirements, that has prepared the candidate for the position as evidenced in the application materials. Please be sure to answer every component of each supplemental question as your responses will be scored and serve as your score on the training and experience (T&E) evaluation.
The candidates with the highest passing scores on the T&E will be invited to the technical interview.

ELIGIBILITY LIST:
Upon completion of the examination, the eligibility list will be compiled by combining the final examination score with applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
