Billboard News is being re-launched as a daily variety show - and this role requires experience and technical savvy for live and live-to-tape show production and holistic understanding of lighting, sound, and cameras. Working alongside the Supervising Producer and production team, the Technical Director will ensure seamless execution of the shoots and all technical aspects of show filming and production.

Responsibilities:
Overseeing all technical aspects, including but not limited to picture, lighting, and sound, of Billboard News, event, and editorial video content.
Create and spec various production packages, including audio, video, lighting and labor
Oversee any freelance crew members hired for News or other shoots, event coverage
Oversee and manage crew on-set for Billboard News or other shoots
Oversee and spec any virtual productions
Travel as needed for site inspections and coverage
Set up and operation of production equipment

Qualifications:
Should have a minimum 5-7 years experience leading technical production in digital and/or TV news or event streaming
Proficiency with camera equipment, shooting, lighting and sound
Proven experience with multi-camera production and live streaming, with extraordinary attention to detail
Passion and excitement for new technologies, development, and production
Self-starter who is used to working with tight deadlines and minimal supervision
Strong communication skills and team-oriented approach with the ability to manage and direct a crew on set
Thorough understanding of production software tools

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS

Set up and operate production switchers and all associated technical equipment in a Production Control Room and/or Live Location environment during live game and/or studio broadcast productions. Orchestrate control room set up while simultaneously evaluating and assigning all video inputs taking into consideration timing and video levels.
Collaborates with the Director and Producer to execute the technical and artistic vision for each live game and/or studio production.
Lead the technical portion of the production team during the production set up and coordinate the faxing of their equipment and show elements since their equipment and work passes through the production switcher.
Collaborate with A1, V1, and other production entities needed for the technical fax to verify all video and audio signals are routed correctly and making it to their final destinations.
During a live game and/or studio broadcast productions recall video sources, transitions and effects and route studio monitors as instructed by Show Director. Continuously monitoring all sources used during the production to ensure all video levels look correct and stay in timing which include external feeds (NBATV Arena Link/Satellite/Bonded Cellular/Etc.)
Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

Work closely with the Technical Operations and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems for Live Location, PCRs and Studio productions. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion.
Collaborates with Production (BEST) Engineering, Technical Operations and Production Management to identify and special order any equipment needed for live game and/or studio broadcast productions.
Effective communicator across teams

Creates documentation on switcher builds, effects builds and set up of the switcher for each broadcast production

Qualifications & Experiences:

Minimum of 3 years of network level broadcast experience operating as a Technical Director for live game, live remote and/or live studio productions
