Job Summary

Never a dull moment when working in live television, especially news. It's fun to work in an environment where people truly believe in their product, creativity is valued, and have a sense of accomplishment at the end of a show. This position is responsible for the technical execution of the live newscast and other live or preproduced studio productions, using our automated production control room. In addition to technical directing, you will also ensure the news rundown is properly coded, and support elements are prepared and ready for air. You are ultimately responsible for the look, sound, and feel of the show.

Job Description

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Direct assigned daily live newscasts.
Works closely with show producers to conduct pre-production programming of newsroom computer system to create the automated show rundown.
Make "on the fly" changes or decisions based on changing needs of the newscast.
Direct other studio productions, special reports, and promotional shoots as assigned.
Ensure that all equipment and support elements are ready for air.
Assist with studio setups.
Perform other operational duties as assigned.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Working knowledge of state-of-the-art broadcast equipment and processes.
Must be familiar with all aspects of television production.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
OverDrive® APC (Ross) or other control room automation experience is a plus.
Knowledge of Evertz Dre *** atcher is a plus.
ENPS News Production System (Associated Press) or other News Rundown application.
Strong computer skills.
Quick-thinking problem-solver.
Must have the ability to direct fast-pace rapidly changing productions for extended periods.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Film, TV production, Communications, or equivalent experience may substitute.
5+ years of recent experience in television directing /production.
3+ years of recent experience directing LIVE newscasts.
1+ year experience with control room automation preferably Ross OverDrive® APC preferred.

Work Environment:

Constant viewing of multiple video and computer monitors.
Must be able to work under pressure.
Early morning work hours required, including holidays.
Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
Must join local union after 30 days of employment.

News Production Operations at *** San Antonio is looking for a Technical Director with skills in broadcast/ *** management and technical operations to join our team!

YOUR DAY-DAY:

Manage and lead the technical crew during shift.
Work with Engineering to ensure that all equipment is operating properly.

YOU HAVE:

Associate degree in television production or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as Technical Director of live shows.
Must have a working knowledge of control room workflows and an understanding of basic audio, GFX, and server playouts.
Knowledge of Sony Switcher and Sony ELC automation software is preferred.
Understand proper video and audio levels.
Knowledge of iNEWS, Mira, and Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Must have the leadership skills to manage and lead the technical crew during their shift.
Must communicate effectively with producers and production staff to prepare rundowns and coordinate graphics.
Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Must be able to perform well under pressure and live event situations.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
Employees will be expected to commit to a specific schedule in the time indicated.
As this position supports a 24x7 operation, the candidate must, in addition to being able to work regular hours, have on-call availability and flexibility to workdays, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice. Additionally, the candidate may be required to work on-site for extended periods to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as natural or man-made disasters or weather coverage.
Must be a highly motivated team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with last-minute changes.
2+ years' experience in a similar role and industry.

Prior broadcast experience in a live control room environment as a traditional director / technical director along with mixing sound for live newscast within a medium to large market experience is preferred. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours; early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Will also be required to cover vacation & sick leave and all other duties as assigned. JOB DESCRIPTION

Amazing Opportunity for a Production Technician @ *** 35 Orlando! Working in the Engineering department the ideal candidate will have working knowledge of AM, PM News and other show formats. Receive and implement directives from Director over headset. Will have the ability to communicate clearly and coherently in person and on headset. Will anticipate the needs of the Director. Ensure that talent and guests microphones have charged batteries, that microphones are on proper frequency, turned on properly and have corresponding IFB's (when applicable). Conduct proper studio microphone and live-remote audio checks prior to air and inform director im *** tely if any source is not suitable for air. Ensure talent is on the set, miked and informed of the cues in use. Prior to air, verify that all studio equipment is working properly. QC audio levels and mix using QC monitor in audio booth. Ensure all RTS panels are labeled correctly with proper studio or remote talent prior to live or taped broadcasts. Update music request playlists on a daily basis with music requested from executive producers. Know camera-blocking positions for newscasts. Ensure camera shots are in focus and framed according to camera directives from Director. Create creative bump shots along with standard formatted shots. Change batteries in microphones and IFB's when necessary. Leave studio, PCR and audio booth clean, orderly and safe at the end of the newscast or production taping. Be familiar with Sony ELC coding and show execution to fill in as needed. Make minor repairs to IFB's, microphones, monitors and audio board as needed. Operate prompter when talent is unable to do so as assigned. Understand basics of lighting panel. Maintain audio booth, prop room, cameras and prompters. Interact effectively and professionally with talent, producers and crew.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Regularly stand; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; and; talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic understanding of television production and production automation system.

EDUCATION: College degree or equivalent experience in television.

OTHER: Ability to operate a broad range of production equipment.
