Job Summary/Description:
*** 12 is seeking an investigative producer, who must be a strong journalist with an investigative and research background, and who is expected to create award winning stories that impact the lives of *** 12's viewers. This position generates high quality investigative story ideas; researches and field produces investigative stories and specials; manages franchise stories; and contributes strong journalistic stories and elements to daily newscasts. This position will also contribute to other special projects, including sweeps features, documentaries, station events, and awards entries. Work performed is for all *** platforms and initiatives, including: on-air, web, and social *** .
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Researching and pitching stories for team of enterprise reporters and *** 12 anchors
• Field producing and writing daily investigative/enterprise stories
• Working with enterprise reporters and photographers and *** 12 anchors to complete long-term special projects
• Coordinating with newscast producers on presentation of investigative/special projects stories
• Writing/posting digital elements for investigative/special projects stories on station website and social *** channels
• Working alongside assignment editors to develop investigative angles on big stories for daily investigative presentation in newscasts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or communication preferred
- Experience in investigative/enterprise producing, reporting, or writing in local televison newsrooms
- Strong organizational, communication and people skills required
- Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to schedule changes
