Your New Role
The contractual labor relations matters related to **** and *** Marketing Operations for the signatory populations by providing clients with interpretation and counsel, as well as participating in negotiations and grievance/arbitration procedures; and,
The supervision and processing of the Production Workplace Investigation's ("PWI") legal documents, such as, separation or severance agreements & releases, departmental reporting functions, and supervision of the Coordinator's administrative functions.
Your Role Accountabilities
- (LR) Ability to independently analyze and interpret approximately 28 Collective Bargaining Agreements (including IATSE,Teamsters / Basic Crafts (e.g., IBEW, Laborers, etc.), OPEIU, SSFA, UNITE HERE! Local #11, and SEIU-USWW ("CBA"), as well as possess knowledge of historical practices to provide guidance to stakeholders, including but not limited to department heads, supervisory personnel, third-party productions, human resources, payroll, **** (Burbank Main Lot, Ranch Facility, and Alameda Lot, *** Marketing Operations (Hudson Yards, NY) and third-party production clients.
- (LR) Perform as 2ndChair in approximately 9 internal CBA negotiations.Such includes, but is not limited to, theautonomousperformance of the following duties:
- Solicit and discuss issues from signatory stakeholders
- Develop and create proposals for review by the 1stChair (SVP, LR)
- Create original source data, which requires the compilation and analysis of industry information for use in developing negotiation strategy and proposals
- Act as the negotiation, which includes meticulous negotiation session notetaking, chronological recording of proposal exchanges, etc.
- Work with finance to secure the required data for developing and responding to proposals
- Present of the contract changes to the stakeholders, including division and department heads, payroll, human resources
- Update the expired CBA with the new language and working with the Union to reach agreement on the new official contract language
- (LR) Perform as 2ndor 3rdChair in industry-wide CBA negotiations with about 21 Unions.Such includes theautonomousperformance of the following:
- Review solicited matters and analyze their viability for proposal development
- Develop proposals for review by the 1stChair (SVP, LR) for presentation to the AMPTP
- Create original source data, which requires the compilation and analysis of industry information for use in developing negotiation strategy and proposals
- Work with finance to secure the required data for developing and responding to proposals
- Act as the Company's negotiation historian, which includes themeticulousnegotiation session record and notetaking, chronological recording of proposal exchanges, etc.
- Present and explain the contract changes to the stakeholders, including division and department heads, payroll, human resources, etc.
- (LR)Independentlyhandle the analytical and interpretive contractual aspects of the CBAs, including but not limited to:
- Subcontracting Notices:Analyze each Subcontracting Notice as to whether the scope of work may be outsourced; and, if not, whether notice is required.Conduct the ensuing discussions and negotiations with the union for an exception to the CBA.
- Facility Rental Notices: Analyze the third-party facility rental notices for potential contractual issues, e.g., rental to a non-union company resulting in an organizational picket that impacts signatory productions.Work with Operations and the third-party to create mitigation plans (e.g., reserve gates), in the event of disruption by the union, e.g, picketing or handbilling.Provide notice and engage in the ensuring dialogue with the union.
- Employee Severance: Interpret the various provisions in the CBAs compared to the specific employee historical records as to whether they are eligible for severance, reduced severance, or require *** ter conditions severance based on Company practice.Address, manage, and negotiate, if necessary, with the employees and various unions regarding any grievance or objections to the Company's severance determinations.In terms of *** ter conditions agreements, draft for Employment Legal's approval and issue the Separation Agreements and Releases.Finally, issue the severance payments.
- Delinquent Dues:Issue delinquent dues notices based the various CBA provisions.As necessary,terminatenon-compliant delinquent employees.
- Studio Seniority Rosters:Analyze and interpret the CBAs provisions for the studio seniority rosters in relation to their maintenance, which includes the placement and removal of individuals.Additionally, analyze the applicability of seniority clauses in relation to reduction in workforce or layoff scenarios.
- (LR) Manage and assist the SVP in responding to union claims and grievances regarding the terms and conditions of the CBA.
- (PWI) Supervise the Coordinator's activities, including but not limited to, the Industry No-Hire List, termination paperwork and process, iSight case management system records,etc.
- (PWI) Act as iSight System Expert (SME), which includes conducting training sessions for existing and new Investigators;Assisting with the upgrades; Coordinating with the Director of People Relations regarding all system issues to ensure that the information provided to the WBD Board and WBD General Counsel are accurate, and so on.
- (PWI) Continually evaluate existing systems and processes, including electronic filing, termination process, etc. to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department.
- (PWI) Supervise the Investigators' proper and timely creation of investigation records; and, the completion, handling, and submission of all weekly reporting for the SVP of PWI, monthly reporting for the General Counsel, and Quarterly Reporting for the *** Discovery Board
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3-4 years of entertainment labor relations experienceworking at a studio, entertainment guild, or production company.
- BA/BS degree required or commensurate work experience
- Research skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with people on all levels.
- Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work effectively.
- Must have the ability to work well under time constraints.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
- Must be a team player and good team communicator.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work with challenging personalities.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skillset, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of *** Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $82,915.00 - $153,985.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, *** Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
