*** Group has an exciting opportunity as a Unified Communications Engineer with our Corporate IT department. The primary responsibility of the Unified Communication Engineer is to facilitate the installation, support and maintenance of our unified communications related business activities and operations. In this role, you will participate in the collaboration and implementation of technologies and policies associated with our Lync/IP PBX/VOIP/O365 telephony infrastructure.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Configuration and maintenance of Avaya System and Session Manager.
- Configuration and maintenance of the AudioCodes SBCs.
- Provide Tier 2 support for telephony related UC functions and technologies.
- Create and maintain telecom documentation, such as business processes, network diagrams, infrastructure topologies and user-based spreadsheets.
- Assist in monitoring and managing the health of solutions and services, diagnosing / fixing basic system problems and escalating problems to senior staff or vendors.
- Research new products and services, partnering with internal customers to identify needs and working with vendors to design and recommended appropriate solutions.
- Other duties may include coordinating software upgrades, auditing telephony servers, assisting network team in troubleshooting performance issues.
Operational Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with Avaya System and Session Manager - or - hands on experience with AudioCodes SBC, the ideal candidate will have both
- Comprehensive knowledge of networking technologies including, signaling protocols like SIP, H.323.
- Familiarity with Exchange Unified Messaging and related administration
- Working knowledge of TDM and IP standards, infrastructures, and network requirements
- Practical experience with designing, implementing, and supporting video conferencing solutions - Polycom solutions preferred
- Aptitude to logically assess and troubleshoot hardware and software difficulties.
- Excellent technical documentation skills
- Experience with Avaya Communications Manager is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Lync 2010, and Lync 2013 is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Visio, and PowerPoint is a plus
- 3+ years of telecommunications systems experience
- A bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, recognized equivalent in work experience or a combination of work experience and education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner with attention and sensitivity to the audience and content of discussion
