Job Summary/Description:
**** located in Harrisonburg, Virginia is searching for a meteorologist to join our award-winning First Alert Storm Team. This is a full-time weather position, forecasting for our weekend evening newscasts as well as working in our weather center three days during the week.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Live our trusted, local "First Alert" weather brand
• Create and deliver compelling on-air forecasts for our weekend 6:00p.m. and 11:00p.m. newscasts
• Work on weather related content during the week. This may include reporting on weather related topics for on-air and digital; building graphics; preparing for special reports; on-air forecasting during newscasts, etc.
• Actively update our station website and social *** accounts
• Produce content with urgency and im *** cy
• Occasionally report live in the field (severe weather events, the county fair, etc.)
• Ability to work with and support the weather staff on large scale weather events on all platforms
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Be motivated! Must have a passion for weather and be highly motivated to communicate forecasts on all platforms
• Ability to work independently or in team settings
• Be creative (storytelling, ideas for the weather department, etc.)
• Ability to work all shifts (we have newscasts beginning at 5:00a.m. and going until 11:30p.m.; must be able to work all those hours/shifts when needed)
• You must understand and believe in digital. Our weather team has a heavy presence on social *** , our website, and our weather app.
• Must be a great communicator on-air, on-line, and in-person
• WSI Max proficiency preferred
• Desire to learn, grow, get feedback
