Being a GIS Technical Specialist at *** is different, not only because of the outstanding variety of infrastructure on the 43 square miles of property, but also because of the creativity required to handle those assets while also being empowered to act as the owners representative for building infrastructure and site assets.
This role reports to the Manager of the Project Design Support Team in Facility Asset Management (FAM).
What You Will Do
Your role is to work as the owner's representative and acquire, handle and strategically share data with internal partners and to collaborate with project representatives. You will use your technical abilities and diverse experiences to define strategies to maintain assets and to advise long term corrective planning for infrastructure that's above or below grade. On any given day, you might:
- Develop scopes for engineering assessments and inspections using ArcGIS data collection applications
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and improve existing GIS data, processes, and applications
- Update GIS Database with changes made resulting from projects and sustaining activities
- Collect and summarize information from field and file investigations into easily readable spatial format
- Develop ArcGIS apps for the Mobile devices (I.e., Survey 123 or Field Maps or Das *** ards)
- Apply ArcGIS apps in the field for data collection and support troubleshooting in field
- Coordinate with partners for regular maintenance of complete GIS system, ensuring performance and stability of GIS infrastructure is maintained
- Ensure that FAM database integrity is maintained through the implementation of a data management (meta-data) system
- Provide application system support for GIS users across the FAM Enterprise system and handle user access
- Coordinate with IT Partners for FAM ArcGIS Power Users to ensure the adequate system setup to support the technology use
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 4+ Years' experience demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of the use and application of GIS data and technologies
- A functional understanding of Autodesk ACC
- Sharp oral and written communication skills, and ability to "tell the story" to partners who do not have a technical background
- Flexibility to work some nights, weekends and holidays, according to the project
Preferred Qualifications
- ArcGIS server administration certification
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Geography, Planning, Environmental, Engineering, Computer Science, Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, or closely related field required.
